sjinnj Posted December 8, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2021 My family and I will be visiting Charleston, SC in April. We have 3 kids ages 11, 11, and 13. Other than bus and walking tours and boats around the harbor, are there any other recommendations anyone can make for an excursion? I noticed that the South Carolina Aquarium appears to be within walking distance. Thanks

navybankerteacher Posted December 8, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2021 If you are interested in history, the H L Hunley - (across the river) is worth a visit, as is the boat trip to Fort Sumter. But Charleston itself has a lot to offer on a walking tour.
mz-s Posted December 11, 2021 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2021 There's a pirate's museum and pirate tour that might be interesting for the kids! You can also ride out to Sullivans Island to see the lighthouse and fort, or the beach there.
Mrs f. Posted December 15, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 15, 2021 When we have company visiting and take them into Charleston for the day.... 1. we have done a 2 hour walking tour downtown 2. Walked the buildings in what some call the old slave market (Market Street)......many vendors selling local stuff 3. Walked around the Battery area, find the row of houses painted in different pastel colors. 4. Aquarium 5. There's a 2 hour boat trip that cruises the harbor...starts out near the area where the new African American museum will be 6. Visited the Charlrston Museum...kind of across from the big Visitors Center 7. Taken a carriage ride...they start on Market Street...fun 8. Walk along King Street....good ice cream shops Loads of other stuff
