Curious as to why it matters?

I use the abbreviation when I am posting or emailing cruise buddies.  The two letter designation makes it easier to be precise on which ship you are references because using the "OTS" abbreviation can cause confusion as many ships start with the same letter as other ships.  For exampled, there are three ships whose names start with "S" -- Serenade, Spectrum and Symphony.  So you can distinguish between ships by using "SR" for Serenade, SC for Spectrum and SY for Symphony.  And as I previously posted, the abbreviation makes it easier to email Concierges and other crew.  ie. the email for the Serenade Suite concierge is SR_Concierge@rccl.com
