chiguypaul Posted December 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Now that there are over 50 crew members infected (made public by Royal) and at least 60 reported by other CruiseCritic members on the forum, does Royal go ahead and cancel the December 26th NYE sailing proactively? The crew infections are only likely to get worse.

Mullwi Posted December 22, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2021 Wow that is great message! I will be happy if they keep reduced capacity for social distancing on my early February cruise! I’m happy for everyone on that cruise… enjoy!

Peak city Posted December 22, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2021 That's why they have "Cruise With Confidence". If you don't feel comfortable, you can cancel and rebook for next New Year's Eve. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-with-confidence
Rare Interestedcruisefan Posted December 22, 2021 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2021 All cruises are going to be at risk now the speed omicron can spread on a ship
gracia98 Posted December 22, 2021 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2021 We are booked on the 26th too on the Odyssey. Not feeling very confident about this. I think 50 positive crew members is just the tip of the iceberg based on how fast this virus is spreading.
Rare twangster Posted December 23, 2021 #8 Share Posted December 23, 2021 We all have to learn to live with this virus. As long as there are cases on land there is the potential for cases on ships. Zero cases on a ship is not attainable right now, even the CDC acknowledges this. No, they should not cancel the cruise. Individuals can decide to cancel their cruise if they are not comfortable.

In our area in the last week I have heard of many testing positive. In fact they have said if one in household tests positive the whole household should assume they have it too and isolate and don’t want them going for tests. There is no more lift and shift option so some people will likely end up paying a whole lot more if they wanted to move to next year’s NYE cruise.
