Review of recent cruise on Celebrity Millennium

My family and I just recently completed a cruise on the Celebrity Millennium to Bimini and Nassau.  I am not an expert, but I thought I’d share my observations netherworld pros and cons of the cruise.

PROS

  • This was our first cruise on a M Class ship, and the Millennium was beautiful.  Very clean, very polite and friendly staff who were very glad to see us.  We stayed in a Family Veranda and absolutely loved the renovation and extra room that this cabin provided us with.

  • The ship definitely was not at capacity and it was nice to never wait in any line.  The smell of the freshness and the music that followed you everywhere, made it seem that you were on the ship my yourself.

  • Sunset Bar- one of our favorite places.  Great music and hefty pours made our pre dinner or after dinner drinks memorable.

  • Metropolitan Dining Room-  Because of the smaller crowds, there was always plenty of room and the staff did everything and more to see your needs were taken care of. Great and varied menu, it was our go to location for breakfast and a couple of dinners.

  • Cafe Bacio -  Loved the expanded venue and as usual it was a great way to start your morning, have an afternoon pick me up, or end your evening. Skillfully crafted coffee drinks and a wide selection of pastries.

  • Martini Bar-  Who  doesn’t love this awesome center for great cocktails, entertaining bartenders and enlightening conversations.

  • Staff-  They were so glad to see us and were at your service to help in any way.

  • Rooms-  All rooms seemed to be well appointed, always clean, with enhanced amenities.

CONS

  • The embarking procedure seemed a little confusing. We had an 11:30 time and still had to wait quite a while before we were allowed in. Then they opened the doors and it became a cattle call stampede with some pretty rude and discourteous fellow passengers.

  • Entertainment-  Maybe we were expecting too much, but the entertainment seemed a little shallow compared to previous services. But that is just our opinion.

  • Specialty Restaurants-  We dined at Tuscan, Sushi on 5, and Le Petit Chef.  Sushi on 5 was a great lunch spot, but the menu seemed a little small.  The food quality at Tuscan and Le Petit Chef was very good, but not that much better than the selections at Metropolitan, and at an extra cost. Service was good at all three, but not as efficient as the main dining room.

  • Liquor Selections-  My wife and I both had the Premium Drink Package, but were disappointed at the selection of liquors and wines at the bars and restaurants. Many of the liquors were not available and you were forced to choose from the Classic items. It seemed that bourbon, gin, tequila and many cordials just were not available.

I’m sure there will be some that disagree with my observations, but overall our 5 day cruise met and exceeded our expectations. It was so much fun to be sailing again and are looking forward to our 12 day European cruise next July. If anyone has any questions that I can answer, please post here and I’ll try to answer.

Thanks for your report.

Nice to hear they're keeping the old tub up. It was our first Celebrity cruise and we became instant fans. If they had just left all the additions off it would be much better.

I also found the beer, wine, sake, and spirits selection to be understocked. There might be a supply issue,  but we weren't able to get the drinks we normally get.

  • 4 weeks later...

We are a family of 5 considering Millennium Family Veranda 9199 and9158. Could you please tell us the sleeping arrangements? Are there two sofa beds, and if so, are they large enough for 2 people? Thank you.

Thanks for the report!  We're sailing on Millennium in February, 21. Could you please share some information about tours in Nassau and Bimini (we haven't been there).

Has your cruise been switched to Bimini?  We're on the February 17 cruise and we're still scheduled for Key West.

I guess the Grand Cayman on the cruise on Apex from 05.03 will be replaced by one of the two ports. Key West has been replaced by Costa Maya. We are traveling from Sofia, Bulgaria and we are prepared that there may be a change of ports at the last minute, but there is not much information about Bimini, so I am trying to gather one.

We were on the Millie in December & had stops in Nassau & Bimini. Since we have been in Nassau before we just wandered around, took a cab to Atlantis & went to the casino. Bimini was a pleasant surprise. There is a free shuttle to the main hotel or ends at a wonderful beach. You had a choice of  just lying on the beach or paying for a chaise lounge, umbrella etc. A bar, pool & restaurant were nearby. We heard the there is not much on the island but you could rent a golf cart for a day at the port & drive around.
