If using a travel agent can you purchase Princess Vacation Protection in the Cruise Personalizer?

A friend of mine booked a cruise via a travel agent. They are now trying to use the Princess Cruise Personalizer to purchase Princess Vacation Protection. but the radio buttons are greyed out.

 

Is this normal behavior if you have purchased via a travel agent or is this indicate something is wrong with the data?

It is normal behavior.  You can't purchase PVP or transfers through the Personalizer if you booked through a TA, the TA must add it for you.

Actually I'm not in the business.  I've just purchased dozens of Princess cruises through my TA along with a couple of direct ones that involved the casino.  So I've seen it both ways and know exactly what you're talking about.

Thank you for the correction.

Princess really should fix the logic of that page and if you purchased the fare via TA it should flag that and display a message that you need to ask the TA to add the Protection Plan.
