on the ship, if you are close to someone with vivid on the ship if you are immune as we had it Christmas/new year.
going in may.

If they test positive and you test negative, they still will put you in as well.

We will all know so much more by May. At this moment, all cruisers are more afraid of mandatory testing of all passengers 2-3 days into the cruise, feeling great, testing positive, being placed in isolation/quarantine, not in their balcony cabin, without 'room' service, than they are of actually contracting the virus.

Yesterday, on Facebook, a current passenger on the Divina reported they were seated with another family in the Mdr. By Thursday, their dining partners tested positive and this couple was escorted out of the mdr and moved to a different cabin for iso!ation . On the last sailing, I know of a family who caught covid and half were put in quarantine and half in their cabin in isolation. By the end of the cruise all but one of their six  tested positive.

So strange they were seated with another party at dinner.
Even back in November when we were on Divina we all had our own tables.

Our table was a table for 6 but me and DH had it to ourselves.

That’s all we saw were couples alone at their own tables.

There was one large party that travelled together who were seated together but that was it every night.

I wonder why Divina changed that policy, especially now when Omicron is present.

First mistaken idea:  You are not immune because you had a previous Covid infection.

I think, in retrospect, that is what the affected couple was also thinking.  Cruising certainly isn't social in this environment.

Exactly right. Just today heard one of my nieces who is a teacher and fully vaccinated and boosted has tested positive for the second time in 9 months.

She tested positive the first time after her second Pfizer dose and now this time after being boosted 3 weeks ago. (She’s sicker this time then she was the first time and they told her they believe she has Delta this time)

Just unbelievable.

How long do you have to be near someone who tested positive for them to require you to test / isolate? Is it 5 minutes or more or you just happened to pass them in the dining room?

I will be traveling solo on the Meraviglia and am hoping to be seated alone at dinner so this is not an issue. With the lower passenger numbers, I am thinking I should be able to avoid anything other than brief contact with others onboard other than getting on / off the ship at embarkation and ports.

I don’t believe they have elaborated on the time of exposure.
They contact trace when you enter a public room/space by scanning your cruise card or bracelet depending on the ship.
If someone who tests positive was in your area at the same time you will be notified and tested. How do they even know how close you were to that person? You could be clearly across the room from them.

Even if you test negative you have to quarantine which doesn’t make sense. They could test those people daily at that point.

To be clear MSC hasn’t formerly notified passengers of their contact tracing protocols. We have learned about it from passengers who have had first hand experience with it on their cruise.

MSC should be upfront and more transparent about this but of course they aren’t because even more of us would cancel/move our cruise.

They check the time. For us the “Exposure time” was 10 minutes in 24 hours.

During quarantine instead of our balcony cabin for 4, we got 2 interconnected balcony cabins. We were allowed to order anything from anywhere, watch pay to for free, got internet packages for all of our devices, and allowed to use the phone in our room for free.

Which MSC ship? It sounds like you were treated fairly. I assume the drinks kept on coming! 😊🥂🍷

I could live with that.

I don't think you wear the tracker on the Divina since it isn't one of smart tech ships.

No you don’t wear a bracelet on Divina.

But when we were on her in Nov 2021 they scanned our cards when entering some venues or just randomly sitting having a drink a young lady came over to us and asked us for our card so she could scan it.

But they didn’t do it every time we went someplace and they didn’t scan it again when we left the area so it was pretty useless in our opinion.
