dalmoradie Posted January 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2022 My husband and I are booked in an MA Club Balcony Suite. We put in bids for several Haven Suites including the 2-bedroom Family Suites. Is it possible to add guests to our booking if we win the 2-bedroom? Will they be considered as "free extra guests" with the promo? TIA

JamesIowa Posted January 28, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2022 It is possible, but cost quite a bit. IIRC they will charge the same as adding a 2nd or 3rd guest at haven room prices. Promos do not apply. I won a bid and was told it would be around 1100 to add one.

julig22 Posted January 28, 2022 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) I added a guest after final payment and upgrade using points and all I had to pay were port charges and dsc. But I was solo, so had already paid for a 2nd guest. If adding a third person, I believe how much you pay would depend on the promo that was in effect when you booked - that seems to be how they evaluate adjustments after final payment. You might want to consider adding guests now (if your current room allows) and see if there is an additional cost over and above taxes & dsc. I think you could cancel them later if you don't get the upgrade. But only your TA/PCC can say for sure. There's an entire thread here at CC devoted to upgrade bids - what did you bid, when did you get notified, etc. The earliest some folks are told is a week in advance, the latest is the night before sailing. My MIL upgraded from an inside to a balcony in August on the Encore and found out 2 days before we flew to Seattle.
FLcruisergrl Posted January 29, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2022 It’s sometimes possible, depending upon the capacity of the cabins around it. It has to do with lifeboat capacity.

Haven upgrades are usually done the Monday before departure 5 or 6 days prior to departure). But can be done as late as 24 hours before departure. The latest Haven upgrade we got was on the Wednesday before a Saturday departure. For the OP, one consideration is needing to buy a plane ticket from NY at the last minute will cost as much as the cruise fare for the 3rd person. It has to do with lifeboat capacity. This is important. If there is no lifeboat capacity left in the "lifeboat section" you are in, then you won't be allowed to add someone additional even at full price. And this might include going from single to double occupancy, although I'm not sure about that (they may always count "at least two" per cabin. etc.). So in terms of regular reservations, it makes sense to add someone at the start, IF you think you *might* want to add someone later. You can always drop that person. dalmoradie Posted February 4, 2022 Author #13 Share Posted February 4, 2022 FYI: I booked this cruise at Casinos at Sea (they gave me a free oceanview room which I upgraded to Club balcony Suite). I called them about adding a guest and I was told we only needed to pay the taxes, port charges and insurance which totalled $214.00. This is after full payment deadline.
mmgibbs7 Posted February 6, 2022 #14 Share Posted February 6, 2022 I won bid upgrade last month and my friend in a separate balcony room didn’t bid. I asked if she could just give up her room and be added to our reservation. I was told the whole reservation would have to be rebooked at full Haven prices on order to do that. They said our friends could sleep in our room but not use any amenities or get extra linens. We were allowed to bring them to dinner for $45 each which I didn’t think was worth the upcharge.
