First time cruise from Southampton

Your best bet would be to go to one of the online cruise travel agents and enter your preferred dates and Southampton as departure port and see what comes up. Most short trips 3/4/5 days are to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Hamburg,  Bruges, and northern france.

From your initial posting i would suggest Royal Caribbean, Norwegian and Carnival are your best bets for informality and plenty of activities. Most cruise lines start sailing from the UK at the beginning of April. 

MSC are very Italian. If you put in MSC Magnifica reviews into a search engine you will get a mixed bag, some people love them others its not the brand for them. Food a very subjective issue likewise, very italian orientated and mixed reviews. Only you can decide if they are for you. You can also look for Magnifcia reviews on U-tube to give you a feel for the ship. HTH
