Great! So I am on a revolutionized ship so I should be ok. So I guess best thing to do would be start small and test it out with maybe $50 to see if it works and then just go up from there if it works out ok?

I suppose I’d have to check my on board account to make sure the slot charge is actually deducting from the OBC?

You'd be ok on any ship.  It's not whether you can do it, it's HOW you do it.

And by the way, a friend who took his OBC and bought a slot credit for a bonus 5.00 could not do it with that.  So, I think it's just plain OBC sitting in your account.

I think there's a lot of confusion on this thread since we're talking about different things.

I've done this on the Equinox, Summit and Eclipse.

On Equinox a couple of weeks ago, there were detailed instructions on how to convert your OBC at slots posted at the cashier's desk. The notation at the end of the instructions said that the credit then was for either playing or cashing out.

We just returned from an Equinox cruise. Had lots of nonrefundable OBC so we transferred $100 at a time to our casino account. My understanding is that you have to play 10% before cashing out to prevent you from transferring OBC to your account and then cashing out immediately.

Interesting.  So did you try just cashing it out right away, or did you end up playing 10% worth on the slot before cashing out?

I was on the Solstice in July and you could only transfer OBC to slot play in increments of $50. You told the cashier how much and they gave you a ticket to put in the slot machine. I didn’t ask about OBC transfers for table play.

No, I knew from pre-Covid experience that you could not cash out right away. I asked a casino employee for assistance and he told me that you have to play 10% before cashing out. On Equinox, we did not have to transfer from OBC through the cashier for the slots. There was a little card at the cashier with instructions. There did not appear to be a maximum. We just transferred $100 until we got to a point that we were going to leave a small amount on the books.

I’m just so nervous to try this with such a large amount. I want to cash out almost $800 of OBC so I know in this scenario I’d have to bet $80 worth (I guess I’ll need to keep track of my bets each spin to make sure I hit $80?).

On my first on the Eclipse I cashed out about 600.00 worth.  I don't think I had to do 10% each time.

I'll check again in October.

Anyone have an update on cashing out on the Constellation?  I have $900 OBC and everything else is pre-paid.  I've been to the ports a ton of times.  I'm ok splitting it up over days but what's the strategy?

I've been on other ships/cruiselines  where I just add OBC to my casino account and cash out at the slot machine.  I'm ok if I have to do a few spins to show activity.

Just got off Equinox last Saturday. I had $600 in OBC. Normally spend unused amount in the computer store but they had nothing but earplug devices. No actual computers or iPads. So I converted it into cash playing roulette. If there are two of you promotional chips at the cashiers window. Split them in half with your partner at the roulette table. They will give each of you different chips. Each of you then place small bets on red or black or odd and even. One of you wins and the other loses each bet. The odds are two to one so the winner doubles his money. Keep the chips you win separate because they are the ones you take to the cashier. The only time you lose is if 0 or 00 come up, that’s why you bet small, in our case $15 each time. The person running the table knew what we were doing and just smiled. 0 came up twice so we lost $30 and celebrity got their share. Actually was a fun way to do it.

We were recently on the Reflection, my wife took the advantage of the 10% added to slot credit and she turned it in to cash. I have no idea what she did but talking to another passenger she was told the following: They had $700 OBC and asked for Casino slot credit for that amount. They were told that the maximum amount they could have loaded to their card was $500 and were given $200 in cash.

will try that on our next cruise.

Is there a convenience fee added to charge casino spending money to your room account? As in, if I want to gamble $20 one night, can I just add that amount and charge my room account, or would it be $20 + $x fee? I’m not one involved in the OBC discussion, but it would be nice to think I don’t have to bring cash to enjoy a little time at the slot machines.

There is no fee. Simply select the amount you want to play - it will download to the machine immediately and appear as a casino charge on your onboard account.  If you don’t play all of the funds you simply cash out for a voucher for future play, or cash at cashier.  On Equinox there is a sign at cashier with detailed instructions for downloading funds.  Losing money in the casino has never been easier 🙃 Good luck!

Anyone have recent experience with the casino on Infinity?  My father is on the ship now and is confused about how this works.  I told him he can load credit on his card at the slots or video poker machine but he is telling me there is no way to create an account or get money from the machine.  He says he has to get a ticket from the cashier, put it in the machine, play, get a cash out ticket, and then take it to the cashier for cash.  So two trips to the cashier each time he wants to play.  He is already on a first name basis with the cashier, since he plays a fair amount.  I told him I can't believe he is unable to put money on his card from a machine, but maybe that is true.  We were on the Infinity a while back and I don't remember, but I mainly played table games.  Our last three Celebrity cruises were on Edge, Apex, and Equinox and we could get credit to play directly from the machine.  Can anyone with experience on Infinity enlighten me?  I want to know if I need to apologize to my dad and tell him he is right that you have to go to the cashier to get credit to play, but I am hoping he is wrong ...

Not on the Infinity, but on the Eclipse.  There are two systems in play, the old system (on the Eclipse and I think the Infinity from your description) where you can't load from your account at the machines.  You have to go to the cashier, and they load a ticket which you put in the machine.  On the Eclipse, it had to be in even multiples of 50.00.

On the Equinox and the Silhouette (where I am now) you can load any amount at the machine.

The cashier on the Eclipse told me that the ticket system is the old way, and they are gradually changing the to the new way, as on the ships you've been on.  I wonder if the upgrades to the casino happen in the dry dock when they revolutionize the ship.

It sounds like the Infinity has the old system like on the Eclipse.  Infinity is Millennium class so maybe those older ships have the old system and the Solstice class is a mixed bag.  Equinox and Silhouette were both dry docked fairly recently, so I think your guess makes sense that they are updating the Solstice class when they are dry docked.  If you are right then that would mean Reflection also has the old system.  It sounds like a pain having to go to the cashier every time to add money to your card, but at least my dad is already on a first name basis with the cashier!

I've read this whole post and I'm confused.  If this was covered and I didn't understand it, please forgive me.  I have both TA credit and Celebrity credit on the Solstice in December.  I'm understanding the TA credit is refundable.  Is there a difference when using refundable and non refundable credit for the slots in the casino.  I understand you have to gamble 10% before cashing out.  Can I cash out Celebrity (non refundable) credit?

Thanks very much!.

No difference between cashing out refundable and non-refundable OBC in the casino.  It is all treated the same.  Only difference is that if you don't cash it all out, and you have some credit left from your TA, they will send you a check for that amount.  If you have non-refundable OBC left at the end you lose it.

Summit has the the new System - it's been revolutionized.  I'd guess the Millennium does too.

Explain more as I'm not sure I understand.   If I were to charge $100 on a slot machine to my room key and don't play the slots and cash out via a ticket --- Wouldn't it go back to my NR OBC?

My understanding was I can only get back cash for winnings.

On Beyond you could put in your seapass and transfer directly from room account (using the OBC or against charge to CC at end) to slotmachine. Anything left after cashing out voucher on slot machine (even if only little $ were played), was paid out in cash by casino cashier.

On Reflection last week, you had to go to casino cashier who made 2 slips : one to sign for charge to room, one voucher to put into slot machine.

The promo I booked before Reflection cruise (did not try this on Beyond) ie 50 $ of the OBC gave me 55$ to use These I could not cash at all, only any winnings.

However any voucher bought without promo, ie 50$ of room charge OBC or not, gave 50$ voucher which could be cashed practically entirely, only had to be run through a slot machine once (as per tip from cashier) before going back to casino cashier who paid out the real $ in cash.

Hope it is somewhat clear ?

Have lots of experience as we had lots of non refundable OBC on both ships.

@swigso On Reflection nothing loaded to card, only vouchers to shove in machine.

You don t have to use everything at once.  I did in instalments, 50 $ at a time. On ships where you load directly from seapass to slotmachines, there are different amounts to tap , ie 100, 50, 20 and I believe even $5, bigger amounts possibly, but did not pay attention to those.  On older ships, were you have to go to cashier, you can choose different amounts as you like.

Anyway I experienced that you can practically cash out everything even if you play very little - provided it was not bought with a promo, in which case you can only cash out any winnings.
