Rare terrydtx Posted March 6, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2022 We are boarding the Reflection in August and we are wondering if there is a VIP Suites check in lounge similar to what we have in Port Everglades? Thanks,
Rare Jim_Iain Posted March 6, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2022 (edited) Unless things have changed dramatically there is not VIP lounge. The terminal is basically a tent type structure - Good news is that usually you just walk in and either escorted or invited aboard almost instantly after a quick checkin. The ships arrive early and with no customs formalities turn around is quick. Edited March 6, 2022 by Jim_Iain 1
Northern Aurora Posted March 6, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2022 I am sorry -- but I just had to laugh out loud. The first time I experienced the Civitvecchia "cruise terminal it was quite a surprise. Actually a big surprise. I expected something along the lines of Barcelona, Malaga, Venice or a number of other terminals. Given the number of Mediterranean cruises which either stop at Civi or embarkation/disembark there I expected something much more than a large tent. The last time we were there was to board the Constellation in September 2019. I would be shocked, given how long the tent structure had been used and the global suspension of passenger cruses, if there have been any "upgrades." We have always used private transfers for Rome, and have never have used the bathroom faculties, I assume there much be some. It really is that "basic."
Bead Pirate Posted March 6, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2022 You are both correct (I had to laugh as well). The tent is practically in tatters on the edges. They are great about hustling you through the interconnected tents and onto the ship however. Enjoy the ride down from Rome (I presume) it is a beautiful countryside!

We have done this several times, but never on a cruise.

While we have never embarked here on a cruise we have visited the port and it wasn’t that impressive considering the number of ships that use this port for home porting. Rare Jim_Iain Posted March 6, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2022 I was looking around and find that the Port of Civitavecchia opened a new Terminal Amerigo Vespucci in 2018. We were last in Civitavecchia in 2020 and certainly didn't use it. Terminal Amerigo Vespucci will be able to handle large cruise ships and around 5,000-6,000 passengers. The ground floor of the terminal boasts an atrium and a 4,200 square metre luggage hall, while the first floor features a VIP area, a bar, a waiting area and 60 check-in desks.
Bugsy1966 Posted March 11, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2022 (edited) We used the new terminal in September 2019. It's a joy compared to the old tent. Regarding the OP's original question, I can't say if there is a lounge but after entering the terminal you go up an escalator and at the top suite passengers turn left, mere mortals right. So there is definitely a separate area that, in all probability, will include a lounge. Edited March 11, 2022 by Bugsy1966
txtechmk Posted March 11, 2022 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2022 When we were there Sept. 2018, I recall a new and beautiful terminal, large and spacious. We were there fairly early and escorted to a nice lounge upstairs with food and drinks and seating. There were very few people there, but I did say we were there EARLY......our driver drove VERY fast from our hotel in Rome! I wish I had taken some pictures.......but I know it was not a tent-like structure.
rmalbers Posted March 11, 2022 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2022 I went thru the tent, not sure where the good terminal was. The part of the port I went thru to get to the tent was very a industrial part the port.
