Mariner of the Seas Deck Chairs

Recommended Posts

Good day all, I hope this finds everyone well. Simple and silly question, I love my promenade deck chairs; I know for safety reasons understandably, these have all but been eliminated, although sometimes, they are still out there. So for those that have cruised recently on the Mariner, do they still provide deck chairs on the promenade deck? It's my favorite spot on the ship.  I was even considering bring my own portable folding chair.

Thanks all!

Chrissy

Thank you all for your responses and attached photo's!

It was explained to me somewhat recently that in the event of an emergency that the lifeboats would need to be deployed having deck chairs out there could cause an obstruction, and the time it would take deck hands to remove the chairs etc, their time and efforts would and could be better suited elsewhere in the emergency rather than moving deck chairs around. I have noticed even prior to covid less chairs on the promenade decks and sometimes removed all together on various cruise lines.

Thanks again all! Safe travels!

The flipside is that you need chairs for the elderly and others who can't stand while waiting for the emergency to be declared over or for boats to deploy.  I'd wager that most muster calls are for an onboard fire and the boats are never lowered.

That is why, certainly on newer ships for certain, that the muster stations are in restaurants, lounges, or theaters so passengers can wait there till the life boats are ready and then be escorted to the lifeboats. Safety first, but I hate giving up my deck chairs... 🙂
