UDC 23, 80s Cruise, and beyond - my musical journey continues

Another entry in the Always Something There to Remind Me department - on my drive home from work, I heard "Separate Ways" from Journey and "Little Red Corvette" from Prince.  I was reminded of my experience on the Ruby Princess a few months ago when DSB and Red Corvette paid tribute to those songs.  I'm sure there are pictures of them upthread, so I'll spare you all this time around. 

 

Also, it looks like it's going to be a perfect weekend to attend a Pat Benatar concert.  I almost wish it was outside.

I went to the Pat Benatar concert last night.  The ride to the Native megacasino was easier than I expected.  There was plenty of parking and the route that I took inside was familiar.  The belly of the beast was somewhat familiar from my last visit about 5 years ago, though all the machines were different.  

 

My seats close to the front and center were as good as expected, maybe even a little better.  The one downside was some of the people in front of me occasionally got up and did their thing, which made capturing photos somewhat challenging.  But more on that in a little bit.

 

Pat and Neil and the gang put on a great show.  They didn't play all their hits, but they did get to most of them.  A couple of the songs were deeper cuts that I didn't recognize.  It was all good.  The crowd was relatively old and skewed female.  This bunch would have fit well on The 80s Cruise, if they had known about such a thing.  

 

This concert represented a good chance to try out my new cell phone and its camera.  I thought it did better than my last one - especially late in the concert when I got used to everything.  Let's pick out a few random photos, shall we?

It's time for Styx already?  Where has the summer gone??

 

Anyway, it looks like really good weather here for a concert on Friday.  Again, I almost wish it were outside.  My favorite song from Styx is "Music Time" and they have almost no chance of playing it.  I'd mark it down the chances at 1% and that may be generous.  It was a single, but not one of their bigger ones.  Too bad, because I really like it and the song represents the 80s as much as any, IMHO.

 

Other songs that I like and they have a better chance of playing:  "Lorelei", "Renegade", and "Mr. Roboto".

Styx put on a great show last night.  They played all three of the songs I spotlighted above ("Renegade" was the closer).  Here are some random photos:

It's a sad day indeed. ☹️Mr. Buffett's music wasn't a favorite of mine, but I understand his influence and respect his talent.

Reason #4032 to prefer festivals on ships to festivals at sea:  The Blue Ridge Rock Festival suffers from a rain-soaked weekend and decided to throw in the towel on the final two days after bad weather causes issues the first two days.  You can read part of the story at

Stephen Pearcy was there.  He performed early, so assume he got his set off.  There were some other familiar and interesting musicians there.  Too bad for them, the fans, and the organizers.
