Mooregre Posted March 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Hello, I am looking at the upcoming Hawaii cruise on the Koningsdam. I have been assigned cabin 4068. Before I book, I would appreciate input and recommendations on this cabin. It looks like it is above the casino. Thank you in advance for your replies! IPB4IGO Posted March 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2022 Understand that you will have a "Partially Obstructed" view, meaning that a lifeboat will interfere with the view from the verandah. Also, that part of the ship has shallow balconies compared, for example to those further aft (4148-4209). Take a look at the deck plans here: Cruise Deck Plans You can see some pictures of cabins close to 4068 here: HALfacts We have had one cruise in a partially obstructed cabin and one with one of those shallow balconies and had a great time on both occasions, but we avoid them when we can. Be aware that some of the cabins with deep balconies up forward have steel rather than plexglass railings, which interferes with your view if you are sitting on the balcony. Hope that helps. Partially obstructed, so you will see the ocean. Above the casino is way better than being below the casino. Location is pretty good; almost close to midship
crystalspin Posted March 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2022 (edited) I would keep your assignment. The life boats are much smaller/shorter than the tenders that obstruct the PO cabins aft of the "bump out". To see some photos of the view you will have, go to halfacts.com, click Pinnacle Class on the top banner, and scroll down to 4052. Which is just at the front of lifeboat as 4068 is. Also the layout of the furniture should be the same as it is an even number of cabins away. Edited March 27, 2022 by crystalspin Numbers, how do they work anyway???
Rare Mary229 Posted March 27, 2022 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2022 You don’t have to stay with the choice given. I liked deck 5 on the Koningsdam, Cabins above, cabins below, very quiet
CruiseMGM Posted March 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2022 We were on the Koningsdam in December (first time on a Pinnacle Class ship) and were in 4099, across the ship and down the hall from your pick. Here's a few pix from our balcony. DH and San Diego as we sailed away, and also looking down from the balcony at the promenade deck, where we could watch the walkers. We had a great cruise .........but we'd choose OTHER than an obstructed balcony next time, if we could....maybe a higher deck or more aft. I realize that would put us into a higher cabin category and thus more money, but although we had a great time, the obstructed view wasn't my favorite. First world problem, for sure! Have a great cruise, regardless of what you choose!
crx Posted March 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2022 Cabin 4068 is not above the casino. It is above the Queens Lounge . This is where the Lincoln center and BB Kings groups perform. Enjoy your cruise. Chris
mrgrumps Posted March 28, 2022 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2022 Dump that cabin. You are too close to the Queens Lounge. You will be blown away by the music from the bands below. These cabins above the music are an absolute joke. The halls actually vibrate in that part of the ship when they strike up the bands. When I was on the Koningsdam, I saw suitcases outside those cabins on the second morning of the cruise as cruisers relocated.
