allennn Posted April 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2022 Our skyloft suite cruise is coming up in a couple weeks and our genie just reached out with a form email. We replied with questions and days later got a couple vague answers but mostly just 'go read the website'. We do a fair amount of lux travel and its rare to get someone in this realm responding like that. Am I expecting too much? Does it get better as you get closer? Someone can correct me if I'm wrong... but I think that a sky loft is sky class, not star class and would have a concierge rather than a genie. Did this change?

We’ve sailed star class twice and had 2 extremely different experiences. First was at height of Covid. I think our genie ended up having to cover addl rooms while we were onboard because pre-cruise communication was great but on ship was lacking (which we’ve heard is out of character for him). 2nd genie we didn’t communicate much with before the cruise so I was concerned, but she was phenomenal. My advice - post here or on the star class cruisers board of the big social media site if you have generic questions. Emails to the genie should be: room (beverages in frig and bed config if applicable), tours scheduled and times you will be off boat, shows you would like to see (we skip all adult comedy), restaurant requests and eating time, and special events or requests (anniversaries, birthdays, flowrider rentals). This is enough to put together your schedule for the week. Anything else can be addressed on boat.
Don'tNeedAName Posted April 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2022 Sky Lofts are Sky Class level suites, not Star Class. If you are indeed in a Sky Loft, you should take another look at the email--perhaps it was a Suite Concierge that reached out to you. A Suite Concierge can be a great resource, and is able to take care of a good number of issues for you, but they are not in the same "realm" as a Royal Genie.

Rare mk-ultra Posted April 13, 2022 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2022 (edited) Um, "sky loft" isn't star class. It's right in the name (sky). Which cabin #? That may help folks sort things out for you? Edited April 13, 2022 by mk-ultra 1

allennn Posted April 13, 2022 Author #11 Share Posted April 13, 2022 Just realized they changed the name a few years ago to star suite instead of sky suite. So its the 'star loft suite' we are in. Sorry for the confusion.

I've been looking into upgrading our Anthem trip to star and if the sky loft is star that's do-able price wise for us!

I just had fun with it and my (dead or alive) dinner guest choices were Charles Baudelaire, Oscar Wilde and Marie Sharp. I would expect you will get better answers as you get closer. Remember. A month out they communication out to 4 weeks worth of cruises plus they are doing the massive grind of servicing their current customers. I didn’t have many questions, but I seem to recall that most stuff was dealt with right before (the week before). I wouldn’t worry yet.

Rare Hutcha Posted April 13, 2022 #19 Share Posted April 13, 2022 First questioner is generic from corporate. Closer in, you get your genie assignment, and the one on one interaction starts. Like someone else suggested, I would "book" in on over to that other site, and get some "face" time there on the RCI Star class cruisers group.
Gaile Posted April 13, 2022 #20 Share Posted April 13, 2022 We have sailed Star class twice and as reported the direct Genie communications increase in the 2 weeks before the cruise. We found the Genies to use the initial boarding to review & update any requests/expectations. They of course will be checking on you regularly and help make adjustments along the way and their attention to detail in small interactions is amazing. On Harmony, I had mentioned that the raspberries we had in our room were particularly delicious and each day we found a chilled bowl waiting for us to enjoy. queenfrostine22 Posted April 13, 2022 #23 Share Posted April 13, 2022 I always try to remember that while reaching out to the future guests, the Genies are still working with their current guests on board. They are the priority. Emails during that time can be spotty and overly formal. Once onboard you get to see the true personality of your Genie and they get to see yours. I have learned that the best time to speak with them is while being escorted to your cabin. At that time you have their full attention. They have others who work with them on the ship to make sure you get everything (within reason) that you ask for. Things can be arranged short notice and changes by the guest are mostly if not always arranged.

That's what caused the confusion.
