Get Shekels on board?

We have been to Italy and Greece and have always gotten Euros ahead of time. Now we wonder about just a bit of Shekels for the Holy Land. Can we get them on the ship? Is that a good plan? We won't be on our own wondering around, just with excursions. Thanks!

Not sure how banks work with various countries but my wife went to Hong Kong and Japan a long time ago and was able to order some foreign currency in advance to our local bank.

I've always been told to wait until you get there. If the economy is tourist-oriented, then they will find a way to convert your dollars for you--and probably at a better exchange rate than you can get here.

No worries.

 

If they don't have shekels at the GS, dollars and euros are widely accepted, as well as credit cards. For the past 2 years, those currencies were at a record low vs. the shekel, but now, with the new interest policies in US, the dollar has gained strength.

 

ATMs are also to be found. On the 1st excursion, just ask the guide to stop at one of them.
