Not sure about E class

When Edge was first announced, we were excited by the concept.

We tried it once, just before COVID hit and we very much disliked the infinite veranda and really didn't care for the feel and layout of the ship.

During covid, we found a phenomenal price on an Edge cruise (which then ended up being lift/shifted).  We went in with an open mind, intending to give it a fair shake.  While we like the ship itself a little better than before, we thought the infinite veranda worse the 2nd time around.  We will NOT book another E-class unless it's a great deal on a Sunset Veranda.  I'd rather sail on an unrefurbished M-class than the Edge.

I agree that the E class has many flaws. We did AQ class on the Edge. Were forced, therefore, to stay in an IV cabin which was just okay...we prefer a real balcony. Blu restaurant was noisy, more crowded than both M and S class ships and has no good window views. Also with just 2 elevator banks, we found elevators way overcrowded and that was pre Covid. Now, I would be very concerned with tightly squeezed environment on elevators. We did dine one evening with friends in one of the four "main" dining rooms and found the service to be excellent and the atmosphere improved from ships which have one large main dining room.

Interesting. This room type doesn't seem to be widely discussed or photographed. It appears to be a double width IV cabin?

It's roughly the same size as a Sky Suite without the Sky Suite bathroom setup. The IV window is the same as a regular cabin, with a second panel that is roughly 1/3 the size of the open IV portion. Just like a S class Sky Suite with the extra window next to the sliding door. The interior bifold doors are also on tracks rather than folding like they are in a traditional IV.

Just back from our first E class sailing on Apex.  We had an IV balcony, I was  a little tentative about the balcony before boarding, but my cabin mate was excited about trying it.  By day 3 both of us were hating it.  The ship is beautiful, I like the 4 dining rooms, I enjoyed the way they’ve made deck 4 a combination of Cafe al Bacio, shops, casino, restaurants but overall I am more a fan of the classic M or S class.  Doubt that I’ll be booking E again unless it’s an exceptional itinerary.  Back to Summit or Equinox for me.

I think we opened ours less than 5 times during our 7n cruise and spent not even a few minutes 'there'.  2 panes of salty glass, a high half-rail, and low chairs make for a tremendously underwhelming experience.

So since our last cruise in February of 2020, my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. We originally booked a standard AQ balcony room. He read somewhere that people were not able to bring their scooters into their room. Their room steward would store them somewhere overnight. He did not like the idea of being "stranded" (he does have a rollator he can use). Anyway, our TA watched for an accessible AQ to become available. These cabins do come at a price. It was about $1,800 more than our original room. I do understand that people who really don't require an accessible cabin will book them for the additional room only (it is appr. 300 SF). Back at the beginning of the year when the COVID variants were active and many people canceled, we were able to get one. There was more than enough room for him to drive his scooter in and park it.
