Shore Excursion Cancellation

In order to get a refund for a shore excursion made through Viking before embarkation, how many hours does Viking require before cancellation?

A week before your cruise you cannot book, cancel or change shore excursions on MVJ.  They will be locked.  I have heard say that people have telephoned Viking during this last week to cancel.  Normally one cannot cancel a shore excursion within 3 days before the excursion.

This cancellation policy is frustrating.  We arrived in Istanbul last night to discover that our excursion on our pre cruise goes to the same place on our paid for excursion on our first day on the ship.  We didn’t know of where our pre cruise extension would go until we arrived.
