Serenade Cruise Cancelled Due to Change in Ports

Recommended Posts

Our cruise on the Serenade has been cancelled on April 22, 2023 due to the ship re-positioning to Denmark for the summer.  RCI has offered to rebook us on other cruises in March & April that will not work with our schedules.  Has anyone had success with asking to re-book on a cruise leaving from a different port but departing on the same date & keeping the same price & OBC, etc?

Any advice or experience you could share would be helpful.

Thanks

Options outside those offered for the cancellation are very rare, if ever. RCI may have been a bit more generous at the height of COVID cancellations - they are likely to be less so going forward. Call a few different times (with a specific ship/date in mind as a counteroffer) - after about 3 or 4 calls if the answer is the same, you have your answer.

I got the email too for our April 29, 2023 cruise.  Here's the info that was sent to us.

Option 1: Rebook one of the following 7-night 2023 itineraries onboard Serenade of the Seas sailing to:

  • Costa Maya, Mexico, Belize City, Belize, Roatan, Honduras, and Cozumel, Mexico on March 18th, April 1st, or April 15th
  • Perfect Day at CocoCay, Grand Bahama Island, Bimini, and Nassau, Bahamas on March 25th, or April 8th

What you’ll receive:

  • Your original stateroom category price will either be protected at your original cruise fare rate or reduced to the current cruise fare rate (whichever is lower). This excludes taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items.
    • If your booking was already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we’ll provide you with a refund for the difference. You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment within 30 business days after we move you. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution.

Option 2: Rebook any Royal Caribbean sailing.

  • If you prefer to re-book a different sailing, we’ll waive any non-refundable deposit change fees associated with the move.
  • Please know, you’ll be responsible for any difference in pricing for your cruise fare, taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items.
    • If you were already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we’ll provide you with a refund if there is any difference in pricing. You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment within 30 business days after we move you. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution.

Option 3: If you can’t find a new cruise itinerary that works for you and choose to cancel, we’ll be sad to see you go.

  • We’ll process a full refund of any paid portion of your cruise fare (including non-refundable deposits) and any pre-paid amenities to the original form of payment, within 30 business days.
    • If you used a Future Cruise Credit on this sailing, and you request a refund instead, we’ll refund any NEW funds paid above the certificate amount and reinstate your original certificate.

You are lucky you received an email.  We got a credit for our February 4-21 trip to Australia and New Zealand last month.  No email or contact from Rccl.  No offer to change to the Ovation going the next month, The ovation is a day shorter and $1000 more at minimum.  The balconies are all restricted view. So there are no comparable cabins. Had a great hump cabin on the Serenade.  Now nothing

Tried to Escalade it and got no where and nothing

Thanks for sharing your experience and we will likely cancel as well but we will try with the travel agent to change ports and see what happens.
