Western Mediterranean which side for sunset view from balcony

Recommended Posts

We are looking to book our first cruise with Royal Caribbean for end of May next year.  Western Mediterranean from Barcelona on Symphony of the seas, which side would we need to book for a sunset view from our balcony? Which floor would be best mid ship?

Thanks

Given the ship goes around in a clockwise circle ( sort of); and the sun sets in the west; you’ll only get the sun on your side for half the cruise..I’d go for starboard side so you get it for the first 4 days.

Welcome to CC.

The lower decks might have less movement, closer to the where you embark/disembark for ports and where most of the attractions are.

I would recommend looking at the deck plans and getting a feel of which features of the ship you expect to visit the most, and let that guide your decision. If you plan to spend most of your time on the pool deck, for example, it's very convenient to have an upper deck cabin so you can just use the stairs (although, full disclosure, some people avoid being directly below the pool/Windjammer deck due to the risk of noise issues from above). If you expect to spend more time on the Boardwalk or in Central Park, decks 6-8 would make more sense.

There are elevators, of course, but on the larger ships they can sometimes involve some waiting. The more you can skip them by taking a flight or two of stairs, the better.  🙂
