Did Princess say what will happen to their own excursions?  the previous sailings had everything canceled.  Not sure what you can do now if we are barely there for 5 hours...i have the glacier and salmon bake excursion.  i guess we have to take a shuttle to the glacier ourselves or what?

And when will princess ever tell anyone????

No clue - I didn't have Princess excursions set up for Juneau, just private. I do have some for Skagway, but those should be okay. I attached an image of the communication the excursion company received, hopefully that goes through.

The only one that looks possible is the evening whale watching but it doesn't appear to have any availability left? I'll need to chat an agent and double check.

Well I tried via chat abut they said its all closed since we are within 2 days of sailing and to check in with the excursion desk on the boat....yah...cuz NOBODY will be at the desk on the boat hahaha.

I'll try to find some private numbers and try to call the companies directly. I'll let you know if I find anything.

.  But, I don't think to many people would be happy to book a trip to Disney World only to ride around on the Monorail.

More like the "Peoplemover" for those of you old enough to remember 😉

So, I wonder if that means the rumored dry dock the week of the 11th is just that, a rumor.

I would rather have the rumor be true and have them fix this issue for future sailings.  If the above notice is true, that means the company don't care about their passengers. Every sailings will not have any time in juneau and probably have icy strait canceled.  ***** kind of vacation is that?

and screw the OBC.  If they cancel the excursions, i have crapload of credits that i won't be able to spend!  I guess it's good i didn't buy the drink packages because i'll have to drink alot to use up the credits

If I miss both my whale watching, I’ll be really disappointed. Only excursions I have. With you on the OBC, we have more than we can use. Maybe I can go crazy in the casino 😂

This was my first time to Alaska, really wish I could have seen Ketchikan and Juneau.  I really only got to see Skagway and Glacier Bay.  Hopefully they make it to Victoria on time, but I'm not counting on it.

Today was cool, I saw 3 whales, a baby whale, sea lions, and tons of sea otters.  I also saw a piece of ice calve off to form an iceburg.

Since it looks like we be spending more time on the ship that anyone would like, how the temp inside and outside on the ship?  Is it warm inside where you could do tshirt? Or anywhere you go you be coming in and out?

Temp outside needs puffy coats or blankets, there are brave people in swim suits in the hot tubs.  Inside just needs a light jacket.  There are some people running around in shorts and sandals, but I'm cold without a coat.

That private excursion memo wow, princess is really not nice if they are telling the tours they will be so late but not the guests, still.  This lack of communication is something crazy.

Noone on this ship even has hope of we will even make it to Victoria on time tomorrow even though there have been no announcements of more changes yet.

You would think they have to get to Victoria or else they violate the us law about having to have one foreign port. I can see one exception but how can they do that for the rest of the season? Or will they just barely get there with a couple hours to spare.

btw, how long did it take to leave the ship in juneau and Skagway? If it takes an hour, you barely have time to do anything in Juneau or Victoria then.

Confirmed with Princess, and the excursion company that the Crown will not arrive in Juneau until 5:30 PM for the cruise dates: May 30th, June 6th, June 13th, June 20th. The excursion company sent us the notification alert they received directly from their cruise travel partner and scheduling operations.

Now looking for last minute excursions and not much available and nothing really runs after 5:30 anyways.

Will you please share that notification alert you received...it could be useful someday soon!!    Thanks

Just looked at our itinerary and excursions in the Cruise Personalizer.  We are on the June 11th sail date.  It now shows arriving Juneau at 1730 departing at 2245, the full day in Skagway, cruising Glacier Bay, but Icy Strait Point has been removed.  Victoria is still scheduled for the 1900 arrival.

Princess seems to have notified the Alaska travel partners, updated their website in record time, but has not sent one email or given one phone call to the passengers on the Crown for those dates.  The lack of communication is what really annoys me since we are now basically paying for what amounts to an expensive drive-by of Alaska.

@wolvey I agree with you on this one even though June 11 is our cruise week.  Just take the week, fix the ship, and salvage the rest of the season for everyone else at least.

For the 21st cruise, $300 non-refundable onboard credit and 20% FCC.

Are you sure yours is non-refundable OBC? Ours for the May 7th clearly says in the e-mail that it is refundable at $100pp.  The customer service rep we spoke with when we got home confirmed it was refundable and is being sent to us in a check along with our cancelled excursion money, timeframe 6-8 weeks.

I know, we have received probably 3-4 emails over the last few days that the beverage package has a new name.  But, can't be bothered to let us know our itinerary is changing.  Our private excursion company called and will try to work with us on the whale watching  tour in Juneau.  May be a shortened trip, but they are going to try.  Otherwise, we will get a full refund.

I chatted with a rep...he still sees my excursion as active...the glacier/hatchery/bake...but could not tell me what the new times were...and kept saying to talk to the excursion desk

i hope it won't be canceled 😞  you can't have the entire summer of no excursions in juneau.  i say mutiny!

I checked the travel summary in my booking...at the very bottom:

ITINERARY CHANGE

Please be advised that Crown Princess is currently experiencing a technical issue with one of the diesel generators. While this in no way affects the safety of our guests or crew, which is our highest priority, it does restrict our ability to operate at full speed.
As we will be sailing at a reduced speed, we will no longer call to Icy Strait Point, Alaska on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Additionally, our call to Juneau on Monday, May 30 will now be from 5:30 PM to 10:45 PM, rather than 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM as previously scheduled.
Updated shore excursion information will be available onboard.

Seriously who in their right mind would've booked these Alaska drive by cruises if we had known this was the itinerary before booking?  Princess is really taking advantage of everyone and this will be our first and last Princess cruise if they don't step up and do the right thing and compensate appropriately.

After 30+ cruises this is without a doubt the biggest scuzz we've experienced and management is really giving the finger to all the booked passengers.  Princess one and done.

Unless we are now reading the itinerary/travel summary on an hourly/regular basis, we can't keep up with the time changes.  I had no idea Juneau had changed from 1430 to 1630 since we didn't get a notification email.  Read about those changes on here and then it was quickly changed to 1730.  We need program notes to keep up. :classic_blink:

I'm sure glad I jumped ship and moved over to the Discovery Princess.

Omg you will be so happy you did. I did the May 15th sailing and the entire week was pure heaven.  It was 69 degrees in Skagway with clear blue skies while we were there.  Zero complaints what-so-ever.

After reading this I'm like omg....these poor people.

100% one and done. I will never deal with princess again. I understand that cruising and ports are never guaranteed but the amount of investigative work we need to do here collectively and the utter lack of care for their customers has done it for me. Ridiculous.
