Koningsdam - Inside passage. Who can provide an updated review ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Would someone just off the Koningsdam provide a quick overview of their experience ?

1.  Food in the buffet

2.  Food in the main dining room

3.  Any standout meal(s)   bread pudding ??

4.  Entertainment standouts ?    (where movies offered nightly on the big screen at the pool?)   any good movies ?

5.  Favorite port  -  weather ?

6.  Favorite excursion  -  did you book HAL excursions or independently ?

7.  Embarkation process organized ?   (I have found that HAL does not shine at this process at any of their ports world-wide.)

8.  Was the sailing at 100% capacity ?

Thank you for taking the time to write any feedback to the above.

Rex

The occupancy issue (not capacity) has been discussed several times. HAL is still holding quarantine cabins...probably around 60 or so, full occupancy isn't going to happen.

This is from another "capacity" thread just down the board:

On the Koningsdam May 14. - 21, we had 1188 passengers (double capacity is 2600) and 900 crew.  Best service ever!  We won’t expect those low numbers for our next cruise.

I enjoyed the Koningsdam trip to Alaska. Do attend the Captain's talk. He likes technical subjects. Photo below shows the crew bunks. Also, I enjoyed the creative choreography of the Step One Dance company. Four shows per week. The grand finale included the singers from BB King and Billboard lounges.

Finally, don't forget that a cruise is also about the outdoors. Enjoy!

Koningsdam May 7-14

Weather was very good, light layers were all that was necessary.

Scenery amazing.  The ports - saw many empty storefronts, lack of tourism hurts.

Loved Dutch Cafe, Pizza was very good and Dive in very good also.  Buffet quite crowded.  Not the Holland buffet I remember but the salad bar is very good and available every meal.  Dining room fresh halibut fish and chips were very soggy but in hindsight it’s very difficult to serve hot and fresh fish and chips in a large group setting.

The staff is fabulous as per usual Holland standards.
