Shore Excursions

If we book a ship tour in Barbados to Carlisle Bay can we chose to stay on at the beach longer than the 3.5 hours allocated  and find our own way back to the ship? We have a fair amount of OBC and I wated to  book  a few shore excursions to use it up.

If Barbados allows individuals to do shore excursions on their own AND Celebrity rules allow it - yes.  Certainly be sure to let Celebrity know your plans.

I expect you will not really know until you speak to staff after you board as rules change.

Thank you. I will book it in and can always cancel later and ask once on board. Everything is so fluid I really need a plan A,B and C for all scenarios.

As others said.   Please let the tour group leader know.   We were on a tour in Japan and a group of 4  left the tour and grabbed a cab back to the ship but didn't tell the guide.   A full bus load of us sat there for over an hour while the tour guide tried to locate them.

Not exactly related to the opening question however, does Celebrity honor their statement of "Never Left Behind."

 

I have an excursion booked on an upcoming cruise that gets in fairly close to departure.

Pretty much yes.  They will stay as long as they can if you are on a Celebrity sponsored excursion.  In the rare case that they do have to take off, you will have assistance from them as to getting back to the ship (what measure is something that I, fortunately, am not completely acquainted with).

 

If you are not on a Celebrity sponsored excursion, they won't wait so much as a moment unless they also happen to be waiting on a Celebrity sponsored excursion.

We have seen them wait as much as 4 hours when sailing times permit.  When not possible Celebrity will handle transfers to the next port.  We had them cover hotels, meals, airfare and transfers for the 2 days to get us to the next port.

Yes. We stayed an extra few hours in Egypt waiting for excursions to return. There was a serious accident on the road leading to the port.
