Quarantine Debarkation process

 Share

Recommended Posts

So some people in my cruise group got COVID and are quarantined. We really have not been told much about what happens when it's time to get off the ship. Anyone have any recent insight on what carnival does for Debarkation?

Follow up, doubt anyone knows but I have the sail and sign card for one of them and they want me to buy them stuff. Is their card flagged that this person should be in quarantine? Security won't accost me if I use their card?

Appreciate whatever info I can get.

You can't use their card.  Their picture will come up, not yours and yes, it is flagged.

Welcome to the forum.

Not to be obvious but why not just have the people who are in quarantine ask the people who are taking care of them?  That would be your best source of information on the procedures.

They have asked but were told that info would come later and we're just worried about getting home. And carnival staff aren't the best with giving info.

Unless a Covid positive passenger needs hospitalization, most/all passengers who have been in quarantine are taken off the ship after all other passengers have disembarked.  The gangway, the terminal decks/walkways are cleared of staff and Covid positive passengers are led out away from public/congested areas of the terminal/pier.

Yep. I think for sure anyone in quarantine will not be disembarking with the rest of the group.

How did they find out they had COVID? Did they start displaying symptoms, or was there some kind of random testing?

One went to medical to get lozenges because he lost his voice yelling in the piano bar the night before. Had to take COVID test before any could be given. He was positive and everyone else in the cabin had to test as well.

They definitely hold you until all others are off the ship. My cabin steward about lost his mind because we were stuck in our suite so long after everyone else had disembarked. I eventually called guest services and asked if someone was going to come get us after a couple hours.  They personally escort you off the ship and then you are free to go about your business.  I spent a fortune on quarantine costs for an oceanfront hotel in South Beach... for Dec 26 to Jan 1. Peak Season rates, no advance booking. Carnival nor health depth never checked to see if we stayed in town... we could hsvr gotten on  a plane and home. We were scheduled for a Back2Back. At least we were allowed to quarantine in our suite.
