rodndonna Posted June 7, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2022 We are leaving this Sunday for our Alaskan cruise on the Koningsdam (Jun 11). It was a 'free OV' Casino room - and just checked our boarding pass and we have been assigned an accessible room on the 1st floor. I really have no concern about what room I am in, but am somewhat surprised it is an accessible room as we have no need for one. Is it likely just a place holder until we board or do they assign those rooms to fully able bodied passengers if not needed by others? Again, just a curiosity... wouldn't mind the extra space though 🤔
mame42 Posted June 7, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2022 Yes, these rooms are routinely assigned to able bodied guests when they are not needed; incidentally, it is considered an upgrade.
Rare Mary229 Posted June 7, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2022 I find them more spaciously arranged. I don’t book them because if there is a need you will be reassigned. In your case obviously there was no need so enjoy the spacious arrangement

Thanks, I just checked again and it is considered a Family room (FB). A review stated that it was accessible which I guess maybe it is because it is a little bigger. Either way, it's a larger room than standard OV so happy if we get it. Nice to have that seperate shower room.
510picker Posted June 7, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2022 Accessible cabins are assigned if it has not been booked by someone needing it. Which cabin have you been assigned because as fa as I know, there are no accessible "Family Rooms".

(I guess because it was larger with a separate shower?) , but indeed it is just a family room (FB) and not an 'accessible" suite, so we can enjoy the few extra feet without guilt! 😃
