Mariner of the seas

Recommended Posts

We have sailed Mariner 3 times in the last few months. The Ice Show was good on the cruise last month. It was not performed on the two earlier ones. The Headliner was canceled last month.   The musicians around the ship were good but they have changed since we were on. We did not go to the production show on any of the cruises.

Food was fine in MDR. Specialty restaurants were very good.

Had a great time on all three cruises.

We just got off Mariner day before yesterday on a 9 day Caribbean cruise, which was awesome!!!  I gained 7 pounds which means I loved the food. We ate in the MDR every night - had prime rib the first and last nights and had lobster tails (all we could eat per our waiter - he brought us 2 each) one night.  Could have asked for better food.  The Windjammer is where we ate breakfast and  lunch, except for 2 times at Johnny Rockets (love their burgers and shakes).  They have the absolutely BEST tasting mashed potatos!  Omelettes were good at breakfast.

The entertainment was okay - the ice show was a circus theme and was incredible.  Very talented skaters (try doing a back flip on ice skates!)  The production shows were hastily cobbled together when a few of the performers tested positive but the singers they put out on stage were very talented.

I couldn't have asked for a better cruise.  We've been home 2 days and no signs of covid.  Never gave it a thought.  Very few passengers wearing masks.  The 'washy washy' at the entrance of the Windjammer is strictly enforced. Great cruise all in all.  Made reservations for Wonder of the Seas next January.

We were on a couple of weeks ago.  The one production show we went to was good but nothing spectacular.  We saw the ice show back in November and it was great.  On this cruise we most enjoyed Darla Fox in the pub.  She was amazing.  They also brought on The Alley Cats while we were in Bermuda.  They are an acapella Doo-Wap group and were amazing too. They were often in the pub after the shows and Darla would get them to either sing or join her in song.  Such a great time!!

There have been many posts on the sailing specific roll calls as well as that other social media site.

We just got off the Mariner a few days ago on Monday, we were on an eight day eastern Caribbean itinerary.  The cruise was darn near perfect in every way.  We did three specialty dinners, Chef's Table, Chop's, and Izumi's, and all were spectacular.  One of the big theater shows was almost cancelled at the last minute due to the main performers coming down with covid, but the last minute subs came through just fine.

This was my second cruise since they started up again post covid.  My late Feb cruise was at 50 percent capacity and was too quiet.  This cruise was at 80 percent and the crew handled the masses just fine.  We could tell that our waitstaff were in training, so we gave them some leeway and they improved every day.

Cheers.
