Doing msc for first time , if I get the cheapest alcohol package that limits  the  beer and wine to $6 , if I buy a more expensive beer am I only charged the beer cost that exceeds the $6 limit .so if a beer is $7 do I get charged just $1

No, on MSC if you buy something over the package limit you pay full price plus 15%. If you'll regularly want more expensive drinks it's better to upgrade the package before you cruise.

Thanks , am I correct that if you only order drinks in your easy package there  is no gratuity?     If I would frequent the same ship bar  and have the easy package   And maybe tip the bartended if I said I really like Italian or European beer would they let me have those or are they strict with the packages

Not in my experience. I suppose it would be up to the individual but I tipped the casino waiter very well.  He would seek me out to take my drink order but would not give me a drink with higher end alcohol without charging.

Depends if you find the right bartender!

Everything is electronically recorded, thus it would be difficult to serve you a beer nobody is charged for.

Of course you can always get a drink above your packages limit and just pay for it. Which package suits your taste best you have to decide.

On MSC, if you go over your dollar limit, you pay the whole thing. If you don't like Heinekin draft or Coors in a bottle, you may want to just upgrade to Easy Plus, which will open up just about all beers.

Thanks.  I will go with the easy package . On ncl the package covered  up to $9 , in looking at red wines on ncl  they were  well over that limit except I found they had a $9 merlot so went with it . Their east -west red blend is $18 .    I see msc will sell bottles of wine for your cabin at quite reasonable prices . $20 to $24 approximate. Seems like a good price
