millybess Posted July 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2022 At the end of our cruise we are going to stay in Athens. We want to stay in a hotel with a view of the Acropolis. At the moment we are looking at the Electra Palace. Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated 😊
Rare LindaS272 Posted July 1, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2022 I highly recommend the Electra Palace. We stayed there three years ago on an independent trip. Very convenient, right in Plaka, easy to walk everywhere, great breakfast, fun views of Acropolis.

Rare Vineyard View Posted July 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We stayed there as well several years ago. We highly recommend Electra Palace. Book a room with view and balcony. Well worth it.
MikeyB Posted July 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2022 Consider the Athens Gate Hotel. Stayed there on my first visit to Athens. Great location. Depending on the direct of your room, you could see the Acropolis or Hadrian's Temple.
Mich3554 Posted July 1, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We stayed in Electra Palace too. Great view of the Acropolis from the breakfast room. Excellent breakfasts. Cute, teeny cafe around the corner that we had a very fresh seafood dinner one night. Menu was written on a chalkboard in front of the restaurant. Canberra601 Posted July 1, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We have stayed at the Electra Palace several times and will be returning in January next year. You just can not beat the location.
sabrefan Posted July 1, 2022 #8 Share Posted July 1, 2022 How far away is the Electra Palace from the cruise port in Piraeus?
Rare longterm Posted July 1, 2022 #9 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We were on the Viking post-trip extension in Athens in late March; the hotel provide was the Intercontinental, which is a very nice hotel, but: - The restaurant was mediocre at best, and expensive to boot; - The location isn't in the most beautiful part of Athens (we didn't find Athens to be a beautiful city--reminded me of Chicago--a bit tired-looking). I wouldn't recommend it.

Your hotel can advise you how much time to allow to the airport. From recollection, about 30 min. to an hour depending on time of day, traffic, & the location of the hotel. PRH Posted July 1, 2022 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2022 Athens Gate Hotel—across from Hadrian’s Gate and beautiful view of the Acropolis from the restaurant/bar on the rooftop. Close to many restaurants, shopping, etc. We used “Alternatives Athens” for walking tours—excellent!
Kentishincanada Posted July 1, 2022 #12 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We also stayed at Athens Gate. Great little hotel and not too expensive. We certainly had “a room with a view” and as PRH has mentioned, their rooftop restaurant is lovely for both dinner and breakfast,

Location was great- rooftop restaurant- had breakfast there with great view of acropolis. Easy to walk everywhere. We had the Hadrian's temple view, from a small balcony. PRH Posted July 1, 2022 #14 Share Posted July 1, 2022 More views from Athens Gate (from bar/restaurant during the day and the view from our room of Hadrian’s Gate) plus a teaser from a nearby neighborhood! You gotta find this—a hoot plus all the kids on a sugar rush. Enjoy Athens!
TERRIER1 Posted July 1, 2022 #15 Share Posted July 1, 2022 We also stayed at the Athens Gate. View was great and there is a roof top bar. Very good location for walking around and close to the Museum and Plaka.

Great location, rooftop restaurant and bar…cheers Michael
Moonlion Posted July 1, 2022 #17 Share Posted July 1, 2022 Athens Gate and Electra Palace are good choices. Athens Gate is on a major highway so make sure to book a room that's not facing the road. You could also take a look at the Herodion Hotel, fabulous views of Acropolis, rooftop bar/restaurant and literally right next to the Acropolis museum.
