I bought a chromebook for my cruise because of the size & simplicity & now I see that there is no airplane mode! Can these be connected to NCL's wifi plan??

The purpose of airplane mode on a phone is to turn off the mobile (cell) signal.

Most Chromebooks only have wifi, so there is no need for airplane mode, as there is no mobile (cell) signal to turn off.

You can use a Chromebook fine with the onboard wifi.  Just be sure the wifi is turned on, on the Chromebook (it normally is).

I use a Chromebook on board with the ship wifi, it works fine.

Great, thank you. Thought I had wasted my money!

I ended up still using my phone and having my Chromebook connect to it via hotspot I created.

We each had a one device plan and it appeared to lock onto just that one device and I could not switch it. You may have better luck.

How didyou create a hotspot? I'm very technology challenged!

Depends on your phone but mine is a Google Pixel.

On mine from the settings I have some called "hotspot and tethering"

I just click on things to turn it on.

I go to my Chromebook and go to settings ,wifi  and let it search for a signal. It shows my phone so I choose it and my phone asks to allow the device to access the hot spot. Allow and it's done!!
