Recommended Posts

If you you follow a threads you can choose the type of notification.    To modify go to you icon top right and from drop down choose Manage Followed Content.

Usually after you have read they disappear.

How do you clear the notifications that you marked as read?

When you left click on the bell, those you have read should no longer be bold.  Those you have not read should be bold.  I know of no way of actually clearing out the actual list, read or not.  The last 25 will always appear in this abbreviated list.

If you right click on the bell and open it, you'll likely see many pages built up over the years!

Basically how it works is that when you log on it will show you the new messages  that you are watching or commenting on in the past 24-48 hours.    If you click on it it will show you all the messages but will not clear unless you clear cache of the browser.   After you click on it the number of new notifications will disappear but the notifications will stay.

I basically just ignore it but if you want it limit them --- Click on the Notification Icon and then the Notification Setting.    Then select each type and if you don't want notification uncheck everything under that category Notification List.  Most alerts will be under Mention & My Content.
