Julma Posted July 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2022 I've been reading that some Bermuda beaches, especially Horseshoe Bay have been very crowded this summer. Can anyone report first hand on this?
Coastalbreezes Posted July 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2022 Yes Horseshoe in particular has been crowded the last couple of months -- and swimming sometimes closed due to an abundance of jellyfish. However if you intend to go, get there as early as possible would be my suggestion.
Lightnin42 Posted July 27, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2022 As mentioned Horseshoe is usually crowded. Go a bit further down the road to Warwick long bay. No amenities usually ( sometimes you can rent chairs and umbrellas) we been to Bermuda four times and always go to this beach.

Get there EARLY I shot the beach scenes at 9am on our second day in Bermuda June 2019. As you can see it's almost empty and we had two ships in port. jmh87 Posted July 27, 2022 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2022 Over July 4th week, we went to John Smith's Bay beach. It was very nice and non-crowded. They have a good restaurant and I believe they rent chairs / umbrellas. It is a pretty long cab ride from the Dockyard. Just make sure you have a way back because there wasn't a lot of cabs waiting around to pick up fares. The extremely nice man at the restaurant called and got us a ride back to the ship. geegee1 Posted July 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2022 Was there last week with 3 ships in. Was crowded, but wasn't so crowded that you couldn't enjoy the water or relaxing

The bus will drop you off, at least they did pre pandemic. The next stop after Horseshoe bay.

I always warn people that there is an iimmeadiate drop off at Warwick. If there is a lot of it surf can be difficult to climb back on to the beach. No lifeguards like at Horseshoe. And you need to watch out for rip tides. Edited July 27, 2022 by Charles4515

Last week there were three ships at the Dockyard. Two docked and one tendering. Very unusual for there to be three ships at the Dockyard. One was a Carnival ship and for some reason according to some Bermudians in the tourist sector Carnival has more passengers who head for the beach and don't visit other parts of Bermuda than other cruise lines. I will repeat what I have in the past if you walk to the east end of Horseshoe, to the left when facing the ocean it is a lot less crowded. The masses like to congregate near the amenities. Rare moposh Posted July 28, 2022 #13 Share Posted July 28, 2022 I'm just going to go to Horseshoe. I'm sure we can find a patch of sand and water and will enjoy ourselves.

When facing the ocean to the left, away from the amenities, the east end the beach will be less crowded. If you up to a little exploring, past the rocks are some coves and beach that are pretty and empty. Edited July 28, 2022 by Charles4515

My spell checker changed a word but I have edited it to what I meant! I think the bathrooms are why people crowd the beach at the end near the concession.
Rare moposh Posted July 28, 2022 #19 Share Posted July 28, 2022 @Charles4515 probably. I don't mind walking a little bit. I will probably go for a walk anyway to explore.
