American Express Cruise Privileges Program

Recommended Posts

I booked our cruise under this program in December 2021, for Oasis 1/5/23 sailing.

I could swear RCCL was offering $200 OBC for our Ocean View Balcony.  In addition for booking through Amex CPP, I expected to get the $200 OBC they offer.

I'm being told that the only OBC I'm getting is the AMEX.  However, the T&C says this will be given while on the ship.  There is $200 OBC in my cruise planner, but Amex/RCCL is saying that is the AMEX credit and its all I will be getting.

Looking for data points on others who have booked with the Amex Cruise Privileges Program. What has been your experience with this OBC?

Many promos are not combinable with royal. When I get Amex one my experience is it shows up in planner. Have ta, or Amex travel, get confirmation if combinable.

I just booked a few days ago through Amex CPP on Celebrity (not RC, but same company). The email invoice I got right away from the Amex agent showed the Amex OBC as well as the Celebrity OBC currently available through a promo. This time around I called Amex and booked on the phone instead of online - the first time I booked online, still had to call Amex back to get the OBC added.

Hope that helps.

Hi TigerCruzin - My daughters and I will be joining you for this same cruise! I can't answer for Amex, but I have a BofA Royal Caribbean Visa  and I'm waiting for my onboard credits that I cashed in last month to show up on my account. It seems like it's taking a lot longer than it has in the past. See you in a few months!!

I cant imagine that its not combinable.  But as others have mentioned, that is a possibility.  Do you have a screen shot of your pricing when you booked.  And may it have been they took the $200.00 off of your pricing at time of booking vs it being OBC from Royal?  I dont remember seeing RCL give that much OBC for a balcony.

Regarding the Amex OBC, I have consistently see our OBC immediate in our planner.  I just upgraded yesterday from an Oceanview to a Balcony and already see the increase from $100 to $200, in the planner.

I know when our TA is giving us OBC, that we wont see until we are on board.  And sometimes according to the TA it could take up to 2 days.  But that is not RCL.

I would go back and look to see if you can find anything that indicates when you purchased you would get the $200 OBC direct from RCL.

Usually, OBC given by Royal will appear on your account. Any other usually show up on board and credited to your account.  For instance, on one of my cruises I got $100 respectively for on board booking and Casino Royale. This amount shows up on my account when I log in.
I’m also getting $150 from my TA for transferring the booking and this amount is not reflected in my account.
