parkbr Posted August 27, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2022 So it turns out that our friend's family has COVID and cannot travel with us on Sunday. We have 2 separate reservation numbers and 2 separate rooms. - just a few doors down. Everything is linked in our Accounts and App - like check-in and dining. And when we wanted to unlink it, we were told that our booking is Group booking and done through Travel agent, so RCL cannot help us at all. AND my trav agent is on vacation and his back up has no clue what she is doing and left for home in the middle of conversation!!! If my friend cancels her cruise, what will happen to mine? We are already here and ready to sail. We have negative results too. Since I have only 2 days, I am very worried now. 😞
mscinmia Posted August 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2022 As long as you are not considered close contact i.e. family living together, or traveling together, you can sail. Group booking has nothing to do with it.

We added each other to book dining together etc. And now we cannot un-link us. Would that be an issue?
irishgal432 Posted August 27, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2022 This happened to us. We were linked with another couple, booked with the same ta. I ended up testing positive on the pre cruise test and had to cancel. I informed my TA who called royal and told them Iwas positive. I did have to send my positive result screenshot. Did the other couple travel without your party? Because that is what we are doing. We are traveling, but they are not due to COVID positive. poocher Posted August 27, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2022 It is not necessary to “unlink”. You still have separate reservations.

marvelous35 Posted August 28, 2022 #11 Share Posted August 28, 2022 The Group booking part is with the Travel Agency. They get lower rates on some cabins or sailings using Group bookings. In those cases, a regular Royal Caribbean rep cannot see your details and will refer you either to your Travel Agent or a group bookings specialist with Royal Caribbean. My experience is that getting a group booking rate from a travel agency is the cheapest way to cruise.

So we had no clue. So now it all makes sense. :). Thank you!
