Quantum of the Seas Alaksa 8/29 - 9/5; 9/5-9/12 Live Review

So dinner tonight was again in Costal Kitchen.  It was very good.

yes, sorry about yesterday.  I slacked off but to catch you up. .  .  .

 

Yesterday we were in Juneau.  We had two items on our “to do” list (1) Have lunch at Tracy’s Alaska King Crab, and (2) pick up a few Alaska 2023 calendar’s to give to friends when we get back home.

 

We had been warned to get to Tracy’s early as it gets crowded.  We made the mistake of having breakfast onboard so were not hungry and decided to wait until around 1100-1130 to go.  Big mistake!  There was a very long line if people waiting to get into the restaurant.  We looked inside and it was packed and the seating was very tight so we decided to go and check back later. 
 

We worked our way down the main drag from the Alaska shirt company, which is mostly jewelry shops down to the Senate Building where we finally found some 2023 calendars.  (Note: In Skagway one shop was selling 2021 calendars) 

 

We walked back, Tracy’s was still packed so we decided to make our way back to the ship.  We did think about stopping at a food cart we had heard about onboard, Bernadett’s Philipino BBQ, but as it was starting to drizzle, and there is no seating area that was covered, we called it quits and went back aboard.

 

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful and relaxing.  I left my cellphone in the room after my after lunch nap so did not get any pictures of dinner.

Clocks were set forward to Pacific time last night.  My wife is use to waking ip early but then going back to bed.  This morning she woke me around 0600 to show me the full moon. 
 

It was very bright and the sky was clear for a change.

Something I was not aware of until today but they no longer, at least on Quantum, put the Luggage Valet paperwork in your stateroom.  We received our paperwork for debarkation and noticed that there was nothing about luggage valet included do I asked the Suite Concierge and was told you had to request the documents.
 

So if you are sailing on Quantum, your flight is after a speified time, and want to take advantage of Luggage Valet, request the form early, I believe ours were due yesterday.

Wow - what is with the line up to get back on - never have seen that before.

Any news on any repairs for the engine yet?

Sorry, there has been no news regarding the engine repair.  I will try and remember to ask someone tonight and see if there is any update beyond there are folks onboard working on it.

Well at least there are people onboard working on it so that is a relief.

I appreciate this as well.  We board her in 9 days.  Our itinerary has already been adjusted for shorter travel distances so I doubt there will be any further changes, no matter the status of the repair work.

I was informed that the engine maintenance will be completed in time for the transit to Australia.

Hi DaKahuna,

Thanks for checking this out.  That is good news for people going on the TransPacific.  We are on the Hawaii cruise right before, so don't know if that means they will still be working on it for our cruise.  Just hope that our 2 overnights in both Lahaina and Honolulu are not in peril.

They should be done as soon as they figure out where those extra parts go 🙂

Sad you missed Tracy’s! We went at 4pm (hoping again next year) and there was only a few people in line before us, but the line was three times as long when we left at probably 5....

I think our all aboard was before 5 pm so, going at 4 might not have worked for us.

We could see the line to enter Tracy’s from our balcony, with three cruise ships in port there did not see to be an “off hour”

It was our pleasure meeting you and your lovely wife as well.  We really enjoyed the many discussions we had, even if we still disagree about Wonderland! 
 

We made a booking for Harmony in February 2023!  Fell free to join us.

 Don't do me any favors with regard to Wonderland.  That's all on you.  I stand firmly with Bob with my opinion of Wonderland.  If they want to pay me to go there, then I might, just might mind you, consider going but no promises.
