So, DH and I both tested negative today and now I can finally get excited about my "Saturday Cruise" on the Magic.  It's been, I guess, 3 years since I sailed Carnival and I need a "Casino Basics Refresher Course".

I know that I need the pin# (birth date and month?) to charge to my cabin and use OBC.  Right?

When I cash out...do I print a ticket or do I upload to my S&S card?  Memory says "upload"...but is there an option?

You will set your 4 digit pin and your memory has not failed you - your play will be upload to your card. Have fun!!

There is no option -- the cruise casinos do not use tickets. The machines accept cash or Player Bank/room charges in, and any credits remaining on your machine go into your Player Bank which can be used at other machines, or cashed out at the cashier.

As previously stated, no tickets on carnival.

Royal Caribbean does use tickets for some silly reason.

sometimes I just feed cash into the machine, that way there’s no record on my S&S card.  😁

Oh honey, no, I didn’t lose too much….

The birth date is one of the questions you have to answer to set up your player bank. You pick your own four number pin.

You actually don't need to upload your balance when finished playing a machine. Simply take the card out of the slot, and the machine will do it for you.

Are you sure?  Some years back a friend didn't know about uploading....so the money stayed in the machine, never went to his card.  This may be 10 years ago.

I think that is the way it is supposed to work, but I now always cash out after it did not automatically do it once and the casino host kind of scolded me.

I don't think the immediate upload works on all the machines.  I recently sat down at a machine and played a hand.  I then realized the amount on the machine was not the same as the amount I should have had on my card.  I hadn't uploaded my money.  It took a casino host to zero out the machine so I could play with my own money.  I don't know if the player before me ever received the balance of their money they left on the machine or not.  I do know I lost a hand on their behalf. 😜

The previous player may not have been using their card.  Then when they left, credits would still be in machine.

When you hit the cash out button it automatically loads to your Casino account. I have had issues when I actually pulled the card out and did not hit washout.  I had to go back to the machine thankful that no one was on it and reinsert my card to allow the machine time to load back on card.  Just hit the cash out button is my advice and it is also tells you where you are at point wise and how much is in your account.

That's what I plan to do.......hit "cash out" and wait a few seconds, just to make sure.

After all, I don't want to lose "my hard earned money"!!!

You must hit cash out

Yeah...I know.  This was an elderly friend...a luddite who never used a slot machine.  He asked me, in general, how you get your money out.  I told him that it went to the room card.  Lo and behold...he went to the casino before dinner and won about $100.  He said people behind him were "cheering him on".  He finished, took out his card...and when he went to the cashier the next day there was $0 on his card.  Those people behind him must have had a good time on his $100.

If you sit at a machine with credits on it, and insert your card, it will not allow you to play someone else's money. A key man will need to upload that to the previous players account. Like anything else, you need to watch that your balance is uploaded. Rarely there is a failure in the communication between the machine and the cage. You can re-insert your card and try again to upload, or call a key man for help. The machine won't allow anyone except the card of the player to spin the reels or even add cash to play.

Unless previous player was NOT using a card.  Have done this many times where I start playing without a card and there are credits in machine when I realize I forgot to insert my card.  I then put in my card and have no problem then putting the credits into my card.

Yes,  I can confirm that it doesn't auto load-

in May on Mardi Gras, I sat a machine that had a few credits on it, but i did the right thing and called staff over and they took care of it

Previous player maybe wasn’t using a card. Auto load happens all the time for me including Mardi Gras.

Oh, ok I just thought you had to have a card in on the new ships-

I only played some VP for a few minutes, then went to craps but I do not recall seeing a bill changer on the VP machine

You must have a card in to cash out any credits you have as there are no tickets like in Vegas.  You can load money to machines from either your card or cash.
