You will need a taxi and most sandy beaches are not laid-back but large clubs, Paradise Beach, Mr Sanchos; Palancar at a distance; or on the east side where you would need a taxi to stay with you and not suitable for swimming (rough). Several smaller beach clubs with sandy areas Sky Reef, Money Bar, Playa Corona, Playa Azul beach club. AI: Nachi Cocom, or hotel day pass near port El Cid, Park Royal, Del Mar Latino beach club. Google for images and details.
ABQrobin Posted September 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Cozumel is a coral reef that has lifted up out of the ocean (actually the ocean level receeded, but anyhoo).... the jagged ironshore is actually coral that has died, hardened over the centuries, and forms the island. The whole island is a large coral reef. Only some places on the island have sandy beaches for this reason. Sand comes from shells and dead coral pieces rocking back and forth in the tides grinding them down. So... when you are in Cozumel, and you see rocky shoreline... marvel at the fact you can see how the island was formed. Find your sandy beaches on the southern part of the island...not anywhere close to the piers.
