It is smuggling in the same sense that packing booze is smuggling. Neither is technically "illegal". Packing booze is "smuggling" because it is a prohibited item that you agree to not bring. Trays are not prohibited, so are like packing any other convenience item that, while isn't necessary, some people enjoy. 22 hours ago, BlerkOne said: Yes, there is basis. It is the dish we most often order. The dish one cabin orders the most often is not basis for what the most ordered item is for all room service orders. One time a retired ATF agent overheard me saying I smuggled booze onto the ship. Once his brain fully processed what I had said, he dozed off again. 6 minutes ago, pacruise804 said: The dish one cabin orders the most often is not basis for what the most ordered item is for all room service orders. Maybe next cruise I'll ask the food manager to confirm for me, but deniers will still deny.

I am only following the example set by those complaining about a minor change to room service thinking their opinion is the only correct one. What's good for the cooked goose... It’s a cost cutting move that yields less fewer included options for guests. That’s a fact, not an opinion. Can’t wait to read your and others responses When Carnival adds a $15 cover to Guy’s Burgers and insists it’s to combat climate change (as a reduction in beef = less cows contributing to greenhouse emissions). 1

I doubt costs are cut at all. More like cost containment, if anything. I cruised long before Guy's burgers were available. They could get rid of those, also. Too many people get stuck in a rut. For starters, if I really really really want to stay in my cabin and avoid going to Lido I'll be willing to pay a few dollars for the privilege. I've also read that Carnival is trying to cut down on food waste, and this seems like an excellent start to that. I've seen far too much wasted food sitting on room service trays in the hallway. I don't blame them a bit for trying to put a dent in this problem. I agree. It's easy to bring whatever you'd like back to your room. If you really want someone to bring it to you-there should be a charge. I think some people order food simply because it was free.

Ah, missed the roll back part as it never really effected us. We just get a carafe of coffee, juice and fruit to have on the balcony,, breakfast appetizers, if you will. 😉
spirit-wedding? Posted September 27, 2022 #163 Share Posted September 27, 2022 My husband and I use room service several times each cruise, really late at night after leaving the casino, a comedy show, dance club, etc. The time at night when nothing but pizza is available or when the pizza line is crazy long. We would be sad to see it go all together for sure. I like having the option to order food to soak up some of the alcohol. I'm thinking there will still be a lot of food waste even with these new changes. Some cruisers will just bring food back to their cabin "in case they get hungry later." Carnival's answer to that is to just make the food on Lido cheaper. I never saw so much rice as on my cruise on Sunshine last week. And they had the audacity to cut the tiny baked potatoes in half. I say this being entirely truthful I get a better meal at Golden Corral than the Carnival Lido buffet in 2022. Now I can always find something to eat (except breakfast where I think everything on the buffet is just disgusting) so I don't complain too much. But the food quality on the buffet has nosedived since COVID. Carnival has really diluted their product.

spirit-wedding? Posted September 27, 2022 #167 Share Posted September 27, 2022 Has anyone seen a sneak peek of what the room service menu will look like? The changes go into effect on October 1st, which is when we leave Long Beach on the Panorama.

But the a la carte room service is here to stay as it costs Carnival very little to provide and earns some revenue. 2
