We are on the Eclipse February 28, 2023.  Hubby is looking for a deep sea dive maybe while in Carins but it seems we are docking at Yorkey's Knob and times are a bit tough to get to most of the tours......

Also looking for a great smaller snorkel trip while on this sail....suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks

Did you all manage a scuba dive on this trip? We are hoping to get a dive in June but no private excursions line up with ships times.. we’re you able to book privately once on the GBR platform?

We booked an excursion on the ship which states BOTH snorkeling and diving.  We just need to verify once in board…. So we will see in February.  Husband will be very disappointed if this in inaccurate…. I’ll let ya know.

I will definitely be anxious to hear and hope that it allows diving! Maybe at the platform as an add on! Have a great trip

Weather….. what are you all packing for this Great Barrier Reef Cruise?   Seems it is late summer/early Fall.   It might be some of everything…..shorts/tank tops, light weight sweater, capris……looking for any insight. Thanks!

February in the GBR is summer and very humid and warm to hot. It is tropical weather, and the wet season so expect to have rain most days at some stage. On average temperatures will range from around 24 degrees C overnight up to 31during the day. To give an example - today in Cairns, it is at the moment 8.20am and 27 degrees C, and humidity is 81%. The lowest the temperature went overnight was 24.3. The forecast for today is expected to be - Cloudy. Very high chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm. Light winds and a top temperature of 29.

June is the dry season and will be slightly cooler with lower humidity and less rain - on average temperatures ranging from 18 degrees C overnight to 26 during the day. We were in Cairns in late July 2022 and the weather was amazing - around 27 most days and warm nights. We slept with the celing fan on every night using just a sheet for covering.

We mainly wore shorts and tees and I wore capri length pants sometimes. We didn't need to wear anything long sleeved.
