firsttimers68 Posted September 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Are now compulsory again. Currently on board Marina and as of last night(22 September) all staff have to now wear a mask. There are a very small number of Covid cases among passengers, that I know of.
Rare pinotlover Posted September 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2022 Haven’t taken the time to see where is ship is at. We haven’t a clue whether this is a company wide mandate or merely required by the country in whose waters you’re sailing. Perhaps your cruise surpasses some arbitrary limit of Covid cases where management feels masks are necessary. We await reports from other ships. Too bad for the staff who will once again have trouble breathing.

firsttimers68 Posted September 24, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted September 24, 2022 There was no mention of it by the CD, it just happened at 7.30 pm that night. As far as I’m aware it’s nothing to do with the countries we are visiting.
CAG Posted September 25, 2022 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2022 Just got off the Nautica on September 15 and the only time staff were required to wear a mask was when we were in Greek ports. Some voluntarily wore masks at other times.
Rare pinotlover Posted September 25, 2022 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2022 Still leaves the option that a threshold of Covid cases has been reported aboard and senior management finds it prudent for the staff to mask up.
HiFi43 Posted September 26, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2022 We are also on the Marina and when the cruise started staff were not masked. They are now masked because Oceania has set a threshold for requiring staff to wear masks when the percentage of passengers testing positive for Covid reaches a small but specific percentage. That is to make sure the staff is protected from catching Covid from passengers with it. The cruise ends tomorrow and new passengers come on board with only a smaller number staying on for the next cruise. The hope is for those of us staying on that masking for staff may be eased when the diagnosed passenger percentage goes down.
