Scooter girl 58 Posted September 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2022 Hi. I will be on the Beyond next May and we have two tender ports. I use a small travel mobility scooter and usually i can't take that on Celebrity tenders. I was wondering if anyone has taken their scooters ashore on an Edge class ship using the magic carpet. I've been on the tenders on Edge Class and while they do use the Magic Carpet I've never seen them lift a mobility scooter into the tender. The crew would have to physically lift the scooter into and out of the tender like any other tendering. Having said that I think that contacting Special Need would be best to give you a definitive answer.
kokopelli-az Posted September 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2022 This article states you can get on a tender with a mobility scooter from the Magic Carpet on the Edge, Apex and Beyond. https://www.cruise-international.com/expert-advice-accessible-cruises/

When I've been on the Edge Class they have allowed wheel chairs because they can be folded so as not to block the entrance. I have seen them actually use 4 agents to lift someone aboard on one. Would really be interested to hear if they would actually allow a scooter as there would be limited places to put it on the tender and not block the entry/exit. kokopelli-az Posted September 25, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2022 Take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1em3fTLhrJk OP: you might want to hop on over to the Disabled Cruise Travel board and post your question. There are many, many scooter users on that board who can probably give you first-hand information. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/
