donaldsc Posted September 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2022 (edited) Check put this video on the town of McCarthy in Wrangell St. Elias - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UQLQgVWOcg. I have been there and it is a neat place to visit. Yet another place in AK that you do not get to on a cruise. However it also means that it is never crowded. Gsel Posted September 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2022 We visited back when you had to pull yourself across the river in a hand cart, then a school bus took you into town! It has changed a lot since then. Visited the mine and had a great hamburger at a very small bar. One of my greatest memories of Alaska. Thanks for this link. Northern Aurora Posted September 26, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 26, 2022 A great “thank you” to Don for this post. With the single road into Denali National Park closed at the Pretty Rocks area Wrangell — St. Elias is a great alternative. It is a very pretty area with wildlife viewing opportunities.
