Come in with an open mind. It is a cruise. But it is not going to be what you have experienced with Cunard.  (I’m basing this on my perception of Cunard as being rather formal.). I am usually a Disney cruiser (but also sailed Princess, NCL, Royal, MSC and Carnival - all but Princess just once so far).  I am scheduled for second cruises on MSC and Royal next month.

MSC has a reputation of poor shoreside customer service - but a much better ship experience.

I have not sailed Yacht Club (YC) on MSC, but find nearly all reports of it as an excellent experience.

Consider what you like to do on a cruise and ask more directed questions if you would like further information (as above poster suggested).  Also, if you know ship, cabin category, or itinerary, responders can address your queries more appropriately. (I could tell you about MDRs or the buffet, but if you are going to experience YC dining exclusively, that area gets addressed a lot; as does the excellent assistance typically provided by the butlers).

Do you want to know about the main theater shows?

Live Music?
Pool?

Spa?

The conversation has begun…

👀 In my english vocabulary, I will add *trust fund baby*.

Not necessarily....

remember YC is pretty much all inclusive. You do not have to buy a beverage package or internet package.

You do not need to pay to go to specialty restaurants if you do not want. You can have filet mignon every night in the YC restaurant. You can have Venchi chocolates in the YC lounge every night.

Unlimited, just about anything, room service , 24 hrs.

AND if you play in the casino, you can get 30% off your next YC stay.

We have been doing that for years.

I find it the best buy at sea & would go even if we did not get the discount.

If you are accustomed to sailing in the Grills on Cunard, you will want to book the Yacht Club.  If not, the other categories will be fine.  It will not be nearly as formal/traditional as Cunard, but if you are sailing from the UK or in Europe, it will be very international, and the women especially tend to dress well.  EM

Shippy, when you get one of those vouchers for 30% off a cruise, what are the book-by and sail-by limits? Also, does the reduced price cruise have to be from a particular set of ports?

Thank you so very much!

Is there a certain amount you must spend?

We are concerned about the extras such as beverages and size of ship we have previously sailed with Cunard

Do you know how they compare

Without additional specific information, as the above posters have said, it's not possible to offer any comparisons. MSC have a fleet of ships which range in size and capacity, from 2,000 to 6,000 passengers. The amenities vary per ship size and class, too.

Again, with drinks or extras, it depends on the experience level you're looking at. Yacht Club includes drinks as standard, some promotions also include drinks. Or you can buy a drinks package, but again this has variations, alcohol / no alcohol, premium drinks or regional costs.

CC has a wealth of information and is always willing to share and help, but no-one can compare X with blank. Fill in the blanks - ship and experience, and you'll have a chance of answers.

BOOK THE YACHT CLUB !

Yeah! No matter what, that may be the best possible explanation. Actually me thinks that from Cunard to MSC we're basically talking on comparing an apple with an apple cake. Obvious both are cruises, but MSC is your regular simple European land 4* like hotel for such a younger crowd (an apple), while Cunard in general, even though some very attractive pricings from time to time, tends to be such an European land solid 4*+ to even true 5* luxury experience (an apple cake). If you want the best of 2 worlds the Yacht Club is your MSC's best bet coming from a Cunard experience level. Surely one can appreciate a "steerage" MSC experience cruise, but bear in mind that you'll be surrounded with a more vibrant, younger crowd and the service while nice will have its "hit or miss" regular moments on the current "4*" industry level. That's it. If you want a strongly port intensive cruise in Europe, go for it. You'll be out of the ship most of the time. But adjust your expectations to the reality. It's different. No worst nor better. Just different!
