they typically have a "glow" party, usually featuring glow sticks.

 

you can wear whatever color you like

They did away with White Hot Party a while ago. Most ships have the Glow Party where you wear white or phosphorescent colors. Show up early to get  your glow rods and rings. And there are other theme parties throughout the cruise.

Was it because MSC copied it? And they did I saw it on the documentary about MSC Seaside.

The original white hot parties were a grand spectacle with the staff in white angel wings dressed in total white. They were a lot of fun.
