dandeck Posted September 29, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2022 Hello! First time driving to N.O. for a cruise. B2B Nov 6th to Nov 19th on Glory. I see $300 at the terminal. ($150 per cruise. 7 & 6 day, Ouch!) See several in the area for considerably less. Anyone have experience / recommendations please? Thanks and happy cruising!! MagnoliaBlossom Posted September 29, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2022 We have not used off site parking in some time, but there are quite a few options. If you use the parking garage it is very convenient. Pull into the garage, go to second floor, I think, drop off bags with the sea caps then continue on to a parking spot. Elevator to terminal. Very handy if the weather is bad, you never are exposed.
Rare ColeThornton Posted September 29, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2022 Lots of NOLA parking info here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/316-gulf-coast-departures/
Rare Saint Greg Posted September 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2022 I have done Fulton all 9 times. It saves money and is usually good but they were short a shuttle on debarkation day in March and it was a long wait. Machu Piccu has really good reviews. Smaller lot. A little more expensive than Fulton. But more personalized service. I cover all of the options here: https://www.saintgregtravel.com/new-orleans-parking/
cruisegus Posted October 5, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2022 @Saint Greghas a very good review, and always lots of good info about NOLA cruising. But I have parked at Fulton once, the first time I cruised from NOLA, I did not like it for the following reasons, old and dirty facility, the elevator is very small and slow (the available steps are very narrow). At embarkation there was quite a wait for the shuttle as you had to wait on returning passengers to have there luggage unloaded, then you load up or maybe that one fills and you wait on the next one. Even worse when 2 ships are there, Personally, I always have a bit of a drive up I-55 so I want to not only get off the ship, but also get on the road. An hour or 2 make a big difference to what time I get home that night. I have since used the Erato St garage twice and the Julia St lot once, For myself the convenience, especially of the garage and the ability of getting on the road made them worth the price difference. I do understand the pain of 30% more over a b2b might have me consider other options also.
clackey Posted November 4, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2022 We have used Machu Picchu twice and recommended them to friends who used them also. They are good folks and do an excellent job. I had doubts when I used them the first time. The neighborhood looked rough, even though this was after Katrina. No need to worry. Their parking is inside a covered, gated area. They have a shuttle to and from the terminal and will have your car ready to load and leave as soon as you arrive from your cruise. Like I said, good folks.
