@CrystabelThanks for checking on the Chicken Waldorf Salad.  Sorry to hear that it is there but Blah!  Just rather not have it if no flavor.

@cruzin4usYes, the Fennel Shrimp was my favorite of the two.  Sorry not available.  Maybe in the future.

Also, my son loved the watermelon caprese salad that they had a few years ago, actually 2018 on the Caribbean Princess.  He was not sure if he would like it with watermelon rather than tomatos but he ended up liking it better than the tomato one.

Thanks for checking for me.  Will see what is available in March on the Sky and April on the Caribbean.

@cruzin4us Thanks for taking the time to post from the Discovery.  We will be sailing soon on the Discovery and your posts have been helpful! Do you know if they have had the Chef's table available for this cruise? Thanks

They had the Chef's Table available on our 9/18 sailing and we saw it being utilized at least 3 or 4 nights.

It was Italian night in the dining room.  It was much better than last night.   I had the prosciutto and melon (very good), French onion soup, Tuscan style beef striploin steak (good but probably should have ordered the veal scallopine) and crème brûlée.

A friend and I will be on the cruise going out this Saturday. Looking at your photos it gives me an idea of what to expect.

I feel sorry for MsSoCalCruiser with their food allergy. I too have a food allergy which is very rare though. I'm allergic to black pepper. Virgin was wonderful about helping me work around that without missing out on any foods. All of their food is cooked to order. I will be interested to see how Princess handles this. Carnival was horrible about it. Celebrity and NCL were pretty good and previous cruises with Princess were hit or miss. I usually take Benadryl before a meal just to be safe.

Thank you.  You and I both won the rare food allergy lottery.  I have a really rare allergy called FPIES.  Benadryl does nothing for me, unfortunately.  Now let’s win the real lottery so we can cruise whenever we want!  I would probably book a balcony on Princess at least once a month if that happened.

Princess is great with food allergies in the MDR, Buffet, and GiGis Pizza.  You probably will not be able to eat at the International café. If you order room service do not use the app.  You should call Room Service and place your order with a supervisor.

Take care and be safe!

Have you tried their pot pies?   They are pretty good but probably should make sure they don’t have cheese.   They had the lentil vegetarian and a hamburger one today and yesterday it was chicken.   Don’t know if they added cream to the chicken one.   I’ll report back

I had the best pot pie on a Princess cruise many years ago.  I figured they had cut them out...you got me excited that they still have them...the chicken one anyway.  Not so sure about the lentil one even though I love lentils.  Thank you for all your work on this review and the food pictures.  It is so helpful to so many people.  I am adding the Indian Buffet to my must do. Did they have naans?  Could you also please tell me if you find the indoor space on the ship more on the cooler or warmer side.  I am just starting to pack and this info will help.  Also, do you know if the Good Spirits at Sea Cocktail Experience that they have at multiple times each night are different each time or does the cocktail they are mixing, change only on a daily bases?  Thanks again.  I'm very jealous of your 21 days onboard, but looking forward to coming onboard the 15th.  Any favorite bartenders and best place for martinis...please let me know 🙂

Went to Rock Opera and it was good…..not spectacular but good.   They begin singing rock songs and more towards the end they sang a couple of more opera type songs.   Personally for me if they would have kept more to the rock songs I would have enjoyed it a tad bit more.   Apparently a few of the audience thought the same because a few people walked out (like they couldn’t have just waited 5 more minutes for the show to be over).

In all fairness, I don’t go to a lot of shows, but compared to the Jersey Boys I saw on NCL, this wasn’t near as good.

anyway, it got me out of the casino and that was a good thing.

another pet peeve…..why on earth do people get their big iPad out and take pics with their screen on bright mode?
I must be getting old and cranky

We went to the Rock Opera and thought it was fabulous; one of the best shows we’ve seen on a Princess cruise. Choreography and lighting were really top notch, and the performers were very talented.

I will definitely check.  They have more variety than I remember in the past but me being a cheese lover I’ve never looked to see if there are sandwiches that are cheese/dairy free.   I’ll probably make a midnight run so I’ll check them out.   Have you tried their pot pies?   They are pretty good but probably should make sure they don’t have cheese.   They had the lentil vegetarian and a hamburger one today and yesterday it was chicken.   Don’t know if they added cream to the chicken one.   I’ll report back

Thank you so much! I also was a cheese lover and developed this allergy as an adult. I have not tried the pot pies but they sound really good. I hope it’s something that I can have. I am OK with regular cooked bread and pie crust. For some reason I do not react to that, thank goodness!

OP

we were on Discovery in March and April but can't remember how many Buffalo machines.

How many and are you hitting ?

There are are a couple of buffalo gold machines and some of the Wonder Four machines that have buffaloes on them.   I haven’t seen any regular buffalo machines.  I went searching for them on day one and was told they took some of them out.   The ones I saw are on the smoking side of the casino

I am one of the Rock Opera lovers.  I didn’t care for the opera numbers as much but we liked the show so much we watched it three times in two weeks.

I saw The Jersey Boys on the NCL Bliss and it was OMG awesome!  That was like something you would see on stage at one of the top theaters.

That is so rude to pull an iPad out and take photos during a performance. On my last cruise we had a woman that appeared to be pretty drunk during two different shows put her hands up in the air and just start waving her arms back-and-forth like it doesn’t matter that no one behind you can see a thing and you’re irritating everyone.

If you’re old and cranky then I’m right there with you.  There’s nothing wrong with us so it has to be them, ha ha!

Have you tried the volcano machine? I did pretty well (for me) on that one.

So far they have had 2 Chef's table dinners.   One on Monday and the other on Tuesday.   My table is right next to the Chef's table.   I don't know if there are more scheduled, but I know for sure there is at least two.

They did have the watermelon caprese salad (one day) which was on the day we boarded (Saturday)

Thanks for posting on your trip!  We join on 08OCT.

I hope they show some of the baseball games!  Go JAYS!

I'm afraid I'm not much help on this......maybe on your TV.   Sometimes they show football games on the big screen up on the Lido deck.   They also have a TV in Churchill's Cigar Lounge that was showing a football game when I was taking pictures.   I don't recall seeing any other TV's in the bar areas (but I haven't checked them all out)

It’s White & Gold night (formal).   I didn’t get the memo to  wear something white & gold before leaving home, so it’s black for me.   They are having some kind of Love Boat part in the piazza tonight.

Here’s the menu for tonight.   Going to save room because I can’t decide what to order.

Today we are in Santa Barbara and the Marine Layer is just about gone and it looks like it might be a nice day.    It’s been gloomy all the way from San Francisco and I’m glad the sun is starting to poke its head out.

This is a tendered port and you need to get a ticket before you leave.   They are giving them out at the Gastro Pub.

An FYI, if you are in San Francisco they will charge you tax on your beverages, even if you have a drink pkg.

I’ll try and wander around a bit and take some more pics.

Wifi has worked amazingly well so far the entire trip.

oh, a suggestion for anyone cruising.   Make sure you update the Medallion Class App before you board.   Apparently they update the app continually and it takes much longer to update using the ships Wi-Fi

another thing I learned:   Tried to book a spa appt on the day everyone disembarks on Saturday.   That way I could use up some OBC on my next cruise.    Well, they told me they could only book an appt for the current cruise.   Made no sense to me but unless I book it online I was SOL.

we just got off the Sapphire & they had the fennel shrimp salad several days so it's not off the fleet-wide menu like some of our favorites--hopefully it will show up for you soon
