sabreline Posted October 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2022 Which ports on this cruise allow you to just walk off the ship and see the town? Limon, Grand Cayman, Cartagena? We don't necessarily want to take an excursion in every.port.
skynight Posted October 10, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2022 All of them you mention. Limon is an old town, not tourist oriented. No beach, just local stores. Cartagena has a nice walk over to the port entrance. There is some shopping at the port. The old town is a short taxi ride. Grand Cayman is kind of like other Caribbean ports. Tourist shops along the waterfront. Downtown area a block or two from the waterfront has lots of banks. You did not mention Panama. After the ship clears the locks it anchors in Gatun Lake. At that time passengers on Princess tours are tendered ashore. No one else is permitted to tender ashore. At some point the ship exits the locks and docks at Cristobol where you can get off. There are some vendors on the pier. No town nearby. Passengers on Princess tours re-embark in Cristobol.
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted October 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2022 There is very little to do in Limon, but there is a Jaguar Rescue Center outside of town. Do some research on how to get there. There is even a YouTube video. https://www.jaguarrescue.foundation/ At the end of the walkway (within walking distance but hot) in Cartagena, you will find a small (free) zoo and shopping area. If you have never been to Cartagena, it is a worthwhile trip into town. As in almost all Caribbean ports, you will find independent tours.
