Well, if nothing else, it’s a great way to motivate people to double check their debit or credit card available balance.

I have the same. Was leading in five but now just two with 11 days to go.

I expect as we get closer more bids will come on.

It’s all very confusing and they sure know how to get you checking everyday to see if your outbid or as I mentioned you could see , your in the lead 😳we were outbid on one last night .it will be interesting to see if we get an upgrade I’ll be sure to post what happens.

The question I have, was you bid in the poor, fair or good category?

Another thought I was thinking jus beacause you are out  I’d it may not be over . For example There can be 12 cabins available in say penthouse, yes you are out bid on that category but you could still win one of those because they still have 11 more to fill. It’s A mind game and very easy to get caught up in lifting your bid . Feel like I’m in a casino lol and I don’t gamble .question

this open bidding has been on for 2 days when will they shut the live bidding off ?

I’ve never heard of this. Did you receive an email? I’m on the Joy in 16 day’s hoping to go from a club balcony to the Haven.

It’s all online in our ncl.com when you first log in you should see

Let’s get you upgraded click here and you can.  View the live bidding if it’s opened up for your sailing . It certainly keeps you logging in to see what happened each day .

Interesting. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it. Good luck!

I stopped following the main upgrade thread a while back, but it seemed like the live bidding is something fairly new and may not be used for all cruises.

Do you have to actually make a bid before you see the live bidding?  I don't see anything about live for my upcoming cruise but I have not made any bids either...

Yes you must make an offer and you should see an email inviting you to upgrade that’s when you can make offers and a list of available upgrades will be available to look at then place your bid .

ok, I thought something was different.  I've never seen the live bidding, so I'm guessing it's pretty new.  I actually just got an upgrade on my cruise that leaves in two days, but there was no live bids (thus seeing where you were in line).  I just submitted an upgrade amount (i bid the minimum) and waited.  Received the upgrade two days ago

Getaway.  Inside to balcony.  $150 total for the upgrade.  Maybe the live bidding is for higher categories???

Congratulations!! Our cruise that we put in a bid for is not until the 30th and I didn't see anything for live bidding on that either.  Maybe closer to sail date.  Aft balcony to haven.

That’s amazing congratulations!WE have never seen this bidding thing ourselves so I guess it varies from ship or sailing and capacity already booked .

Live bidding builds engagement and might increase bids, but it also can ensure that nobody over-bids.  With the classic sealed bid method someone could bid far more than they really need to.  NCL may only be invoking the live bidding when they get multiple initial bids in the same range.

yeah, I'm totally fine with an inside, but I figured I'd try a minimum bid to upgrade since capacity is still not back to pre-covid levels

You have the wrong bidding.

There is no poor, fair or good category.

This is eBay style.  You place a bid and instantly it pops up if you are winning or outbid.

They also tell you how many people are bidding.

Unfortunately unlike eBay you can't see the current amount. So you may bid $1000 but the current high could be $4000 per person.....so keep bidding 😁

Actually no,

On current bidding for cruise in 10 days there are/was 6 cabins in same category available. I currently am a high bidder and so is another person I know. So there are at least two of us winning the same category.

What may happen is, like myself, I have bid on 7 categories and if I win one, it will wipe my other bids so others can move up.

Yes sort of.

Log in and see a "let's get you upgraded" banner in middle of screen and follow it.

Live bidding is when many bids are bid max it seems.

Upcoming cruise only Haven is live bidding all other is old style.

Apparently "many" of us bid max and here we are. Max for Haven lowest category was $1500 per person on old bid style, now on live bid it's huge. I know as I bid on all and was leading 5 now am only leading 2.
