What benefit would I actually see with a cash tip at bar on day 1 or 2?

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would actually keep those, and try to spend it in port.  It would be too much of a hassle.

Some people keep a 2 dollar bill in their wallet for luck. Not that I believe in luck or anything... It's just fun, and thanks for clarifying that they have a cashier on board. It makes sense that they would have something like that.

Well, I don't tip extra, and have excellent service, and have a beverage package mostly.  So the only benefit I see is that your wallet will be lighter, and you will pay more for drinks than me, and get the same service.

I wonder if these same people feel the same way when they buy a car. Pay 5-10g over list price since the sales person works mostly or wholly on commission so deserves it as it makes up his/her income.

On our current cruise I bought my wife the unlimited class pass for the gym. They added an 18% gratutity to the price when i paid on my cruise planner. Guess we gotta add that to list of people we give dollar bills to.

It's an option.  And I appreciate the Info you provided.  For general consumption though:  Like I said in my post, they can spend (which includes exchanging or depositing into an ATM, or taking them to Guest Relations, Casino or whatever else may be available on the ship) the $2.00 bills on the ship.  I prefer to carry half the wad of cash in my pocket because I'd still tip $2.00 for each drink purchased.  $2.00 bills makes it less bulk in my pocket (I like empty pockets as much as possible (I don't want anybody to think I'm happy to see them)).

Again, this is a non-issue issue.  If you give it, they will find a way to spend it.

Does a Sales Person work with the intent to get tips?  Answer:  NO!  Nor do they have an expectation of a tip.

Need to add this though:  If you want to tip a car salesman, please feel free to do so.  I won't think any less or more of you, I promise.

I recommend steering clear of tipping with $2 bills. These are not commonplace, and often disregarded as legit cash. And then, crew aren't always able to spend them or convert them in a lot of foreign ports.

While the US dollar is the most acceptable form of payment on Earth, his cousin the $2 bill is a little less respected.

A lot of truth here^^^^

As for tipping - a tip-as-you-go system gets you noticed. Keep in mind that your daytime bartenders (e.g. on the pool deck) are your nighttime bartenders at a different venue. I was in the Schooner bar and my Sun Deck bartender was there and she greeted me by name and and tended to my drink order personally. Another night, a bartender I hadn't met before said "hello Mr. Rob" and got me my drink. I didn't even know the guy? That means my main bartender was talking about me to him, so far as to tell him my name and drink preference. That attention to detail doesn't go unnoticed with me.

Reminder: Tipping is discretionary and by no means a requirement. Tipping is also customary and benefits you as well as the staff.

I've got a bunch of Susan B Anthony dollars I need to use also. 😁

Don't stop at poor underpaid car salespeople, University Profs deserve tips too! OK, maybe not all us do, but Economics and Finance Profs deserve a big tip at the end of each semester.  Just like bartenders we provide excellent service, listen to a lot of sob storeys, and have to put up a rude and whiny customers; "Where's my A+, I worked really hard, Wah, Wah, Wah." 😭

And besides, we have lots of cruises to fund!

I'm thinking the same thing.
