BAYA Posted October 18, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2022 Posting in case this spares someone angst. If reserving an Uber to pick you up after disembarking in Boston tell them to pick you up in front of the Dunkin Donuts on Drydock Avenue. That’s where dozens of us were told to schlep our bags this Sunday. Ubers weren’t allowed to pick up right in front of the terminal. It’s about a 3 block walk. I saw several people missing their drivers and vice-versa. It’s a real mess there. Antiquated terminal and streets unable to deal with huge crowds. Suggestion: look up the Boston Design Center on Google maps and then see the Dunkin across the street on Drydock Avenue. That’s where we were sent by terminal staff on October 16th. Hope this helps someone. 1

This has been a continues problem especially if there is more than one ship disembarking passengers.

Very unhappy that Celebrity is now running it's 12-day Canada/NE cruises out of Boston.
Traveling Library Posted October 28, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2022 We did not pre-arrange an Uber and had no trouble getting one in August. Once we disembarked we walked around the large white building (the Boston Design Center) 'til we saw the large signs along Dry Dock Avenue for #23 or #25. At #23 or #25 Dry Dock Ave (either is fine) is still 2-way so the driver can turn left out of the Design Center lot and avoid all of the chaos at the port. Also if you want to take the SilverLine into Boston or if you want to go to South Station to catch Amtrak, walk around the building to find the bus stop at #23 Dry Dock Ave. Most likely you'll get a seat on the bus. Much easier than standing 😉 2
Giantfan13 Posted November 23, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 23, 2022 We disembarked the Voyager in Sept and needed a ride to the South Amtrak terminal. We had loads of luggage so there was no schlepping for us. We didn't know the routine, so we got a porter to take our luggage out of the terminal and once he told us where we had to go for the uber, we just took a standing taxi that were right there. I assume it was off the books as he gave us a fixed charge $20 with no meter running. We were happy with that, and he dropped us off right at the entrance to the Amtrak terminal. As we drove by the spot where the people were waiting for their Ubers, there had to be well over 100 people waiting there. Cheer Len

lissie Posted March 2, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Thanks for this information. I was looking at doing the water taxi transfer as they include luggage storage which works for us as we don't have a flight until 5pm - but its certainly not cheap ($50pp ) Now thinking we might just go with the silver line bus and find somewher to store luggage at south station Edited March 2, 2023 by lissie
