I feel like that's a personal decision. Some people can't cruise without the drinking packages and such. For us, it's the spas and pools.. we've reached a point where it's a requirement. So all of the newer Carnival ships (Vista class) are out, simply because they are a joke in the spa area. You just have to decide what's important to you, where you find enjoyment on the ship. I do wish there was a spreadsheeet somewhere across cruise lines that showed which ones had large proper thalassotherapy pools. Also looking for land based resorts that have them. My wife loves them and the heated loungers.

The rest of the thermal suite isn't great though and limited to Aqua class or paid passes.

It is absolutely a personal decision. I've sailed Celebrity for the past 10 years and they do not have a thalassotherapy pool in their spas. They do have them on their smaller millennium class ships, they are larger 'pool' size free for all adults in a main deck area, therefore a spa pass just for heated chairs was never even a thought for me. No drink package and we are fine with the lido swill (coffee) but the hydro suite is a requirement and a "must upgrade". Again, glad we have choices with Holland America Line. ajcmimi Posted Friday at 02:40 PM #30 Share Posted Friday at 02:40 PM Is 299 for a 14 days thermal suite pass for a single on Nieuw Statendam worth it? Can you get a day pass to try it out? Or for a couple of days? Thank you

Thank you Yes, you can get a day pass and from what I've read on other posts the cost of the day pass will be deducted from a cruise long pass if you purchase it. You are paying $21 a day to use the thermal spa.....If you think you would get your money's worth, go for it..... ...We get the pass when we are on a cruise with lots of sea days.....and then, we think we get our money's worth because we wear out the pass......We've known some folks who buy the pass and only visit a couple of times....that's a waste for us....If you get it, use it a lot and enjoy! ajcmimi Posted Friday at 04:55 PM #33 Share Posted Friday at 04:55 PM Thank you, that's very helpful; since I never tried the thermal pool I may try to get a daypass on board first

kevingastreich Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM #35 Share Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM I think the longer the cruise the cheaper it is. On the recent 128 day GWV I paid $800 for the entire cruise On day one it was $999 but the steam room wasn't working yet so I got a discount. The steam room was fixed that night! 😁
