Bar Tab question

I just saw an online video about the Bar Tab.  The poster advised that it could be used anywhere around the ship for any purchase and was not limited only to alcoholic drinks.  It was actually treated as cruise credit.

 

Is this still correct?  Was that your experience?

Bar Tab is for drinks only. It can not be used for excursions, in shops or the casino.

We had a hefty balance left, so we bought bottles of booze and champagne.

You can use it for non-alcoholic specialty beverages and bottles of wine or liquor from the bars, but not the shops.  There was a period where it could be used for anything, but that loop-hole has been closed.

Bar Tab is ONLY for drinks. Alcohol, coffee or anything else. 

 

Sailor Loot can be used for anything, that is your on board credit. Shops, drinks, excursions, etc...

As above--loot is good on anything purchased on board.  Bar tab is good on alcohol, coffee, tea, non-alcoholic beverages, smoothies, etc.  But only good on beverages you consume and not on things like Grog Walk, which is considered an "activity" despite the alcohol being served.
